Whatever your reason for shopping for wine, you’ll be happy to know there are more and more specialty stores with great wine brands and knowledgeable staff sprouting in the metro. In addition to our first list ofbottles and bubbliesstores published in July, here are some more retailers that offer more than just a good bottle selection.
CAV Wine Shop & Café
Tasting room: Sample a wide variety of wines by-the-glass at CAV Wine Shop & Café
At a time when wine bars could only offer limited selections for their “by-the-glass” menu, CAV Wine Shop & Café came into the scene and pioneered the Enomatic dispensing machines for its clients to enjoy. A wine shop, casual café, and fine dining destination all at once, the store’s posh interiors revolve around its wine display centerpiece – an impressive assembly of over 500 labels. An exciting and ever-evolving wine list includes entry-level wines, premium brands, and everything in between.
Terry Selection
Shop for a bottle in this gourmand’s heaven at Terry Selection in The Podium.
Named after its owner and chef Juan Carlos de Terry, this well-known wine and food mecca is a go-to place for great Spanish wines, complemented by a sumptuous Spanish/European-inspired menu. With a doctorate degree on oenology (study of wine) from Spain, the man behind this wine bistro is a serious wine lover and educator so you can expect a perfectly curated bottle list in all Terry’s branches.
Come for the wine, stay for the food: Terry Selection promises a unique gastronomic experience.
Next time you’re on the lookout for a savory Tempranillo from Rioja, or Tinto Fino from Ribera del Duero, which are from two of Spain’s most celebrated wine regions, try this retailer and you may be pleasantly surprised at what you’ll find. And why not pick up a few slices of Jamon Iberico to enjoy with your bottle while you’re there?
Terry Selection stores are located at The Podium in Pasig City, Tuscany at McKinley Hill, Taguig City, and at BCS Prime Building and One Lafayette Square in Makati City. Store hours are 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Santis Delicatessen
Find that wine bottle you’re looking for, plus much more, at Santis Delicatessen
While Santis would be top-of-mind when people think about cold cuts and cheeses, it deserves a special mention when it comes to its wine. Carrying a variety of brands from South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, France, and Italy, the store makes for an interesting wine shopping experience offering a little bit of everything. The Yakal outlet, the biggest of its many branches all over the metro, resides next door to a wine bar where you can enjoy the same bottles at restaurant prices.

iTrulli Fashion, Food and Wine
Stylish sips: iTrulli takes a sophisticated approach on Italian wine and fashion at their boutique
This concept boutique takes the wine retail experience and brings it to a whole new level. Mixing fashion and design with wine, the shop offers a fresh take on everything Italian. You’ll find its wide selection of bottles from Italy’s wine-producing regions mingling with edgy furniture, vibrant bags, and footwear that are all for sale.
Sit at the wine bar and you’ll get a reasonably priced Rosé for PhP200 from their by-the-glass menu. By-the-bottle offerings can range from a PhP450 Sangiovese to a PhP35,000 Tuscan Merlot. Environmentally conscious clientele can be rest assured that the brands carried at the wine bar and cellar all come from vineyards with sustainable farming practices and eco-friendly wineries. iTrulli is located at LRI Design Plaza, Bel-Air II, Makati City with store hours from 10:00 AM to 10:00PM.
Wine Club
If you’re a fan of premium California wines, you may have already heard of this elusive shop tucked away in Legazpi Village, Makati. The Wine Club[*] devotes 99% of its cellar space to the most highly regarded and highly rated bottles from the vineyards of Sonoma, Oregon, and Napa, to name a few. Here, you’ll find the most elegant bottles of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon from critically acclaimed brands.
The Wine Club raises the bar in wine retailing as it offers professional and concierge services; a sommelier provides expert advice on wine selecting, food pairing, and even cellaring your collectibles. A wine and tasting bar is also on premise so you can clink away those glasses with friends without additional corkage.
The next time you’re looking around for a good place to buy wine, make sure you give these establishments a try. Don’t worry if you end up grabbing more bottles than what you’ve set out to get. After all, you can’t ever have too much of a good thing.

About Monette Atilano
“I write because I breathe. And because I've always been better at it than math! Contributing articles to my favorite teen magazine got me started at 16...and I've been typing away since (whether for work or my own pleasure). When I'm not penning about wine for beginners or raving about a gastronomic experience, you'll most likely find me re-watching classic movies from my extensive DVD collection, going on a local adventure with my husband, or daydreaming.” - Monette
