The country will celebrate all types of workers on May 1.

Every May 1, the country celebrates Labor Day or Araw ng Manggagawa. The non-working holiday is dedicated to all the workers in the country and is usually welcomed with demonstration by various unions who are continuously fighting for their rights.

Celebrated since 1913, Labor Day and the people behind its demonstrations helped shaped the rights and privileges that every worker is enjoying now; from a basic 8-hour work day to the continuous fight to have better pay.

DOH advises public to take precaution this summer.

The Department of Health (DOH) advises citizens to be on the alert this summer season as the sun continues to dominate the weather. Health Secretary Dr. Paulyn Ubial advised Filipinos to drink eight to 12 glasses of water every day to combat the heat. Ubial suggests that drinking every 15 minutes is ideal during the hot weather.

Ubial also encourages the public to learn first aid responses especially during this heat-stroke prone time of the year. The health secretary reminds Filipinos to avoid sun exposure from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM to reduce the risk of heat stroke and to learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in case such thing happens to any person they might know.
