Halloween parties are not the only events that are plenty this October. If you’re not in the mood for a costume party but still want to go out and have fun, the following exhibits, expos, and tradeshows happening this month might be worth checking out.


1. Distinct Refinements: Painting from the Provinces

When: June 22 to October 28
Where: Metropolitan Museum of Manila
Price: Entrance fee for the Metropolitan Museum is PhP100

Distinct Refinements: Painting from the Provinces has been ongoing since June and is still available at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila until October 28. The exhibit showcases works of art that explore the theme of Filipino culture. The paintings were from collections of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines), private institutions, collectors, and were curated by Professor Santiago Alano Pilar.


2. WWF Art of Kindness Exhibit

When: October 4 to November 30
Where: Solaire Hotel and Casino
Price: Entrance is free.

WWF advocates for the better protection of wildlife, specially endangered species, and nature.


The Art of Kindness Exhibit tackles nature preservation and appreciation and features local artists. The exhibit, which also features the works of paper cut artist Patrick Cabral, will last for almost two months at the Solaire Artway. The Art of Kindness Exhibit is a partnership between World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF) and Solaire Resort and Casino.




3. ManilArt 17

When: October 12-15
Where: SM Aura Convention Center, Taguig City

ManilArt will be on its 9th year on October.


Exactly a month before the ASEAN summit in the country, ManilArt will hold an art fair with the theme “The Philippines as an ASEAN Cultural Powerhouse.” The fair will feature works from different international and local art galleries. Featured artworks are by up and coming artists and icons from the local art scene. There would also be demonstrations on mosaic making and digital background making, a lecture on Mindanao art, and walking tours.


4. The 3rd Travel Sale Fair 2017

When: October 13 to 15
Where: World Trade Center
Price: PhP100 entrance fee

Whether it’s chilling in a beach in Cebu, touring around Bacolod City, or even visiting Mindanao, adventurers and weekend warriors can set their next travel adventures at The Travel Sale Fair 2017. This event offers travel deals, tour bookings, buy-one-take-one promos, and a daily auction for attendees. Visitors can also score discounts on packages and accommodations purchased on-site. Besides travel, the fair also features how the lifestyle and fashion industry can be associated to the travel and tourism industry. Registration is available at the Travel Sale Fair website.




5. Manila FAME

When: October 20
Where: World Trade Center
Price:
PhP700 for non-trade visitors on the 1st day
PhP500 for non-trade visitors on the 2nd and 3rd day
Senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students have discounts on regular ticket prices.

The event highlights the Filipino’s creativity and global competence.


Manila FAME is one of the grandest design events in the country. It celebrates locally-crafted and produced home, fashion, architectural, holiday, and interior pieces to achieve its aim of promoting the artisanship of Filipino designers to the global market. This bi-annual event is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) along with the Center for the International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). 6. Whiskey Live Manila 2017

When: October 20 to 21
Where: Shangri-La at the Fort
Price: PhP2,000 for a one-day pass, PhP3,350 for a two-day pass

Whisky aficionados are going to enjoy this event.


Those who are looking for something new to try can visit Whiskey Live, an international celebration of whisky that will be happening in Manila. The event will feature different types of fine whiskies from all around the world for enthusiasts and newbies alike. Whisky producers, distillers, and marketers will be present to mingle with the visitors as they teach basic knowledge about this particular drink. Visitors can also taste samples of rare and in demand whiskies while eating excellent food. Tickets can be purchased at Whisky Live’s website.


7. Electronic Sports Summit

When: October 27-29
Where: SMX Convention Center
Price: PhP170 for day one, PhP210 for day 2 and 3

Electronic sports (e-sports) are popular in the Philippines.


For gamers out there, the Electronic Sports (e-sports) and Gaming Summit (ESGS) will hold both amateur and professional competitions organized by big names in the gaming industry. Besides gaming tournaments, there would also be booths inside the venue from both major and independent gaming companies. Visitors can check software programs, gaming platforms, and services available in each booth. Tickets can be purchased at SM tickets outlets and SM tickets online.
