While the city will face more afternoon downpours this week, the commuting woes of most Manileños will be alleviated as two new P2P routes are now operational. One route will pass by some major malls in Metro Manila, while the other will serve those in the Katipunan area. Meanwhile, here’s some good holiday news for those who hold jobs in Pasig: this Monday, July 2, is the 445th Pasig City Day which is designated a special non-working holiday in the city [1].

Weather: Expect rainy days ahead

The weather will be full-on rainy for the whole week. Skies around the metro will be cloudy and will be accompanied by light to moderate thunderstorms in the afternoons. Temperature is expected to range from 31 to 32 °C in the day and 24 to 25 °C at night, which indicates that it will be relatively cold especially during nighttime. [2]

To be prepared for the weather, bring necessary rain protective gears such as raincoats, jackets, and umbrellas. Since the not-so-friendly weather is also associated with commuting woes, pack extra patience as the rain might affect the traffic in major thoroughfares.

New P2P routes available for commuters

Commuters can now use two new Point-to-Point (P2P) bus routes. The first route will cover major malls in Metro Manila. The bus route is as follows: from Trinoma, the bus will stop by SM North; then SM Megamall (for drop off only); Park Square, Ayala Center; back to SM Megamall (for pickup); and finally back to Trinoma. The fare ranges from PhP40 to PhP70 [3].

The second route is known as the first P2P “ikot” (roundtrip) route, which operates in the Katipunan area. This route is different from the already existing Katipunan to Makati route, as the ikot bus will only pass from Katipunan, to Aurora Boulevard, to Tandang Sora, and vice versa. The loading and drop-off points are yet to be announced but the fare is at a fixed rate of PhP12 [4].

Cashless bus rides now available at Araneta Center Bus Port

Bus commuters at Araneta Center Bus terminal must know that it is now possible to pay for trips cashless. Passengers can now pay using PayMaya or credit cards for trips to CALABARZON, Bicol, Iloilo City, and more [5].

Travel Update: Sta. Clara De Montefalco Church will be used for Thanksgiving Mass

On July 2, a 7:00 AM Thanksgiving Mass will be held at Sta. Clara De Montefalco Church for the celebration of Pasig Day [6]. This will be followed by a Grand Parade in front of the church. Those who are planning to visit the church are encouraged to go shortly after the Pasig Day festivities ends as a big crowd is expected to flock actual church and its vicinity.
