A DOT accredited agri-tourism destination in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

A sunny spell will heat up the city in the coming days, so keep yourselves hydrated and make sure you’re sun-proofed as you go about your things to do in Bacolod. In the city, a road and bridge rehabilitation program—flagship projects of the current administration—were approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for implementation this year. Meanwhile, the sea transport sector announced that it will not have fare increases for summer. Lastly, two resorts in Negros Occidental have been accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT).


Weather Advisory: Keep calm and enjoy the sun in the next four days


This week brings the city more sun over grey clouds. With temperatures expected to reach 33 °C, humidity will develop for the rest of the week. While it will most likely stay dry and hot until Thursday, March 28, it is highly recommended to keep an umbrella and a water bottle handy when heading out for errands. On Friday, sunny spells and morning showers in some spots will pass. Mark off that bucket list for a relaxing weekend at the beach, clear skies will keep the weather calm [1].


Traffic News: Two city flagship projects to start this year


Two out of four flagship projects in Bacolod City was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for implementation this year. street extension project, which includes the repair of the bridge and drainage system in Barangay 28, and a road rehabilitation project in barangays Mansilingan and Felisa were approved.



Travel Updates


Sea transport sector to maintain fare rates

Because of the continuous fare increase in the country, more travel sectors are considering to implement a fare increase. Despite this, the sea transport sector does not plan on increasing its fares yet. To keep sea travel easy and breezy, the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive officer and Weesam Express operator stated that they will not implement a fare increase yet since summer is a high-volume travel month.

There are three fast craft operators in Bacolod City: Weesam Express, SuperCat, and OceanJet. Ticket fares range from P200 to P350, depending on the type of accommodation a passenger might prefer [3].


DOT accredited two new agri-tourism destinations

The province of Negros Occidental has become one of the traveler’s favorites in terms of agri-tourism destinations. Just recently, two more spots were accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT): PeacePond Eco Tourism Events and Learning Center in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, a five-hectare organic farm and fish production area in Barangay Enclaro; and Melba’s Farm in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, a 10-hectare property located in Sitio Masanglad, Barangay Cabatangan. Provincial Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Cristine Mansinares said that these two accredited destinations met the DOT standards [4].
