Weather Advisory: Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms
After basking in the warm weather of summer, Bacolod City will experience scattered rain showers brought by thunderstorms this week. Prepare your rain gears when heading out as the cloudy skies will develop light to moderate rains. However, it will remain hot during the day as this week’s temperature will range from 33 °C to 34 °C degrees [1]. Traffic News: New LTO extension office to be built in EB Magalona
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will build a new extension office in EB Magalona to bring their services closer to the neighboring cities and towns in the 2nd district of Negros Occidental. The new office will rise in a 1.5-hectare lot in Brgy. Tabigue, EB Magalona and is expected to be completed on October this year [2].
LTO Regional Director Roland Ramos said that this initiative aims to decongest the LTO-Bacolod office. It is also expected to boost the economy of the municipality.
Ramos said that the LTO-Bacolod Office registers 600 units of motor vehicles and 500 miscellaneous transactions every day. It also accommodates not less than 1,000 drivers a day for new licenses and renewals.
Another tourist attraction in northern Negros to rise
The Dalayapan Ecopark is set to rise in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City in northern Negros Occidental. This 2-hectarre ecopark is a project development of the Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative (DARCO) [4].
Expected to start operating next year, the ecopark will feature amenities such as campgrounds, spring pool, and other recreational facilities. Recently, the cooperative has already opened Café Darco inside the ecopark area. It operates from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.
PVO to keep Negros free from a game fowl disease
Because of the spread of several game fowl disease in the country, the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental boosted its regulatory services. The office installed awareness signage in Silay Airport and sea ports at Barangay Banago in Bacolod City—points of entries in the province [3].
Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said that regulatory services should be intensified in the airports and seaports. Through its Animal Health and Meat Inspection Services, PVO ensures the implementation of biosecurity measures.
Since Negros Occidental is known for producing quality game fowls, Decena said that many enthusiasts in the country prefer buying their fighting cocks from the province. These are usually shipped out.
Decena added that animal disease surveillance is also being conducted regularly in order to prevent outbreaks of devastating diseases.
