Children with or without comorbidities from all over the province of Bohol can now get their vaccination in government-led vaccination rollout sites.

The Department of Health advises that children with comorbidities are required to have their vaccinations at district hospitals. [2] Upon the actual inoculation and vaccine rollout, children should strictly be accompanied by their parent or guardian. Identification cards of the child and the companion is also needed.

PHO Chief Dr. Yul Lopez declared that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines should be officially used to vaccinate children in Bohol. Those who have registered through the Facebook page, Asenso Pa More Tagbilaran, were prioritized. [3] The number of children to be vaccinated within the age group is not yet definite. Still, PHO assures that though the vaccination programs’ efforts aim to inoculate all of those willing to get their vaccination doses.

Currently, the emergency use authorization or EUA of the two vaccine brands has been granted to the country by drug regulators for the vaccination of children aged 12-17 years. [4]

Last November 9, more or less 600 children got their first vaccine doses. Tagbilaran Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is persuading parents also to encourage their children to acquire their vaccines. The mayor expressed that he and the government want to go above a hundred percent. Still, it’s a challenge also since other residents are hesitant to be vaccinated and refuse to support the government’s vaccination programs. Yap continues to encourage his constituents to have their vaccines, help the health sector and government by becoming part of the solution, and further strengthen the province’s herd immunity. Yap also shared that Tagbilaran Bohol has been recorded with the highest vaccination rate in Central Visayas, with almost 64% of the population vaccinated. The city government is also assisting with the vaccine rollout for non-Tagbilaran individuals.
