Manila’s Newly Opened Restaurants for Seafood Lovers

As an archipelago, the Philippines has a lot to offer as far as seafood is concerned. This is evident in the numerous restaurants all over the country that feature fish, shrimps, oysters, crabs, mussels, and clams as their specialties. Seafood is so versatile that you can cook it in different ways—you can have it steamed, boiled, grilled, or baked. It can also be cooked with different sauces and spices. No wonder seafood dishes are a big hit not only for the locals but also for foreign tourists.

Choobi Choobi opened last December in Quezon City. Their name sounds Korean to some, but they’re a restaurant that serves Filipino comfort food. And the name actually comes from a Fookien word that means “to enjoy.”
One of the restaurant’s house specialties is Shrimp in a Bag (PhP395 per pound), which comes in various flavors including butter garlic, spicy gata (coconut milk), Cajun sauce, and Singaporean style. Since they grow their own shrimps, you can have the freshest and cheapest catch. You can also order Chilean mussels and scampi by the pound. Other dishes include stuffed grilled squid (PhP250), giant bamboo clams (PhP140 per piece), fried chicken (PhP345), lechon kawali or crispy deep fried pork belly (PhP205), and pork barbeque (PhP30 per stick).
Choobi Choobi opened its first branch in July 2013 at Parkmall Cebu. They now have 13 branches in different parts of the country, including Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.

Crabs from Davao are now available in Manila.
Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Davao. Last August 26, they opened their doors to seafood lovers in Manila with a branch at SM City North Edsa. You don't need to go to Davao anymore just to taste their fresh seafood uniquely boiled inside a food-grade plastic bag and then marinated in special flavors, such as Cajun sauce and garlic. You can order crabs (at market price), shrimps (PhP572 per pound), and mussels (PhP589 per pound).
Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is a casual dining establishment so you can eat their seafood dishes using your hands, living up to their tagline, “It's fun to be messy.” They also serve grilled squid and tuna, among other seafood selections. Appetizers, soups, and salads are available as well. Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

You can also taste their buko caldo specials, which are dishes served in coconut shells. Noodles, soups, salads, and vegetable dishes are available as well.
