This week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), together with the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) and various private and public sectors, will organize the third Metro Manila Shakedrill from July 14 to July 17.

The exercise is to prepare the city when the feared 7.2-magnitude earthquake, known as The Big One, hits the country. The government aims to improve the previous years’ drills and to involve the private sector and test their emergency plans.

The event will also take place wherever the responders are and not on a pre-planned location to test the response of each quadrant of the city when emergency strikes.
