2017 is ending quicker than we imagine! If you missed out on any of the blockbuster hits earlier this year, don’t worry. Before we welcome new flicks bound to arrive next year, grab some popcorn and choose from this list of movies you can watch before the year ends.


1. The Snowman

The snowman in this movie is far from cute and cuddly.


The Snowman is a British crime thriller film based on the book written by Jo Nesbø. Michael Fassbender plays detective Harry Cole who investigates the disappearance of a young woman. As Harry goes further in his investigation, the evidence points out to an elusive serial who commits killing sprees every first snowfall.


2. Loving Vincent

Loving Vincent captured the attention of art fans everywhere.


Vincent Van Gogh is regarded as one of the most famous artists in the world with his unique style and sense of color. In this first ever fully painted animated film, we get a glimpse into Vincent’s life as he struggles in finding his own art style and his impending mental sickness. The film is a treat for art lovers with its visual effects. Each of the 65,000 frames in the movie is hand-painted by a team of 115 artists. The paintings are also executed using Van Gogh’s signature style.


3. Jigsaw

Jigsaw has audiences wondering whether he’s still alive or not.


The Halloween scare fest is not over yet. Fans of the Saw series will get tricks and treats in the eighth movie of the series. After the notorious killer Jigsaw has been killed on the previous movie, police are now investigating a sequence of murders done in the same manner of style he used to do. Now police are wondering if Jigsaw is still alive and is committing the crimes himself.


4. Paddington 2

The adorable bear returns on a new adventure in Paddington 2.


In the first movie, the lovable talking bear Paddington settles in with the Brown family. In the second installment, Paddington juggles different jobs to buy his aunt a book as a present for her 100th birthday. Upon purchasing the present, the book suddenly disappears. It is now up to Paddington to find it. Paddington is voiced by British actor Ben Whishaw.


5. Justice League


Opening day: November 16

Will Superman return to join them? This is the big question in Justice League.


After the phenomenal success of Wonder Woman in the box office, DC Comics fans are now anticipating if this would be the same case for Justice League.

The movie is set after the death of Superman in Batman v Superman. Batman and his newfound ally Wonder Woman try to recruit a group of super humans such as The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to defend the universe from approaching enemies. Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck will reprise their roles as Wonder Woman and Batman, respectively.


6. Murder on the Orient Express

A killer wreaks havoc in Murder on the Orient Express.


The star-studded ensemble cast of Murder on the Orient Express is not the only thing that we should be looking forward to the movie. Based on a 1932 novel by Agatha Christie of the same name, the story itself is promising. Thirteen stranded strangers on a deluxe train ride try to solve a murder before the killer takes the life of another victim. The film stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, and Daisy Ridley.


7. Coco

For kids and kids at heart, the latest offering from Disney and Pixar will let them go on a musical fantasy adventure. Coco tells the story of Miguel, who wants to be a musician like his idol Ernesto De La Cruz. However, his family forbids Miguel to pursue his musical aspirations. Due to a series of events, Miguel unexpectedly ventures to the Land of the Dead accompanied by the friendly and charming Hector. As they go on the journey to return Miguel to the living world, Miguel soon finds out the reason behind his family’s stance against music.


8. The Disaster Artist

Real-life brothers James and Dave Franco team up on the big screen for the first time for The Disaster Artist. The movie gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Tommy Wiseau’s 2003 film The Room. The star-studded cast includes Dave’s wife Allison Brie, Zac Efron, and Kristin Bell.


9. The Star


Opening day: December 8

Everybody knows the story of Jesus’s birth. Offering an alternative take on the Nativity story is the computer-animated Christian comedy film The Star. The movie is about a group of animals, led by a donkey named Bo who lives in the village mill. When Bo escapes from the mill, he and his friends embark on an adventure which makes them the unlikely heroes of the first Christmas. Steven Yeun from The Walking Dead series lends his voice to Bo.


10. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Carrie Fisher was one of the celebrities who died last 2016. Before she passed away, she completed filming for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth installment of the franchise. While fans know that Carrie is now one with the Force, they are just as excited to catch the cast from Star Wars: The Force Awakens to reprise their roles. Fans can also wait to see if the cameo roles of Prince William and Prince Harry as stormtroopers will make the final cut of the movie.
