What makes Puerto Princesa City a popular destination is not only its beautiful attractions but also amazing food served in the restaurants within it. Some of the go-to eateries in the city can be found just a few minutes away from tourist spots and hotels, and one of the most popular restaurants in the area is Kinabuchs Grill and Bar. Opened in October 2000 by Edward “Butch” Chase, the twenty-year-old restaurant cemented its reputation as one of Puerto Princesa’s go-to chill dining spots.

Fast forward to two decades later, the restaurant continues to serve both locals and tourists with their variety of delectable dishes. Despite the slowdown in tourism at the city because of the pandemic, Kinabuchs Grill and Bar still thrives among locals by making sure that they can safely dine in. Planning to eat here soon? Kinabuchs Grill and Bar’s charm lies in the fact that it is a place where everyone can unwind through good food and chill ambiance. The restaurant serves classic dishes that Filipinos love. Aside from the crispy pata, which is their famous specialty, other dishes to try include sinigang na hipon (tamarind soup with shrimp), grilled pusit (squid), bulalo (beef bone marrow soup), and pork sisig (diced pig ears with chicken liver).



The restaurant’s menu also includes a variety of soups, seafood, poultry dishes, goat dishes, beef dishes, pancit dishes, vegetable dishes, and desserts. Meanwhile, its bar offers different kinds of alcoholic beverages.

When it comes to the ambiance, the restaurant is mostly open-air and surrounded by plants. Guests also have the option to eat outside. At nigth, it is a great spot if you want to have a chill and casual dinner because of the warm ambient lighting. In addition to its dine-in option, the restaurant also has take-out and delivery services.

Safety Protocols of the Restaurant

Just like the other restaurants in Puerto Princesa, Kinabuchs Grill and Bar also practices strict standard safety protocols. In their Facebook page, the restaurant posted several of the dine-in safety measures that they implemented, which are as follows:

• The kitchen staff are equipped with face masks and gloves, and they follow physical distancing.
• Tables and chairs for dine-in are sanitized routinely with 70% alcohol.
• Customers and staff are required to wear face masks while inside the restaurant except when eating.
• At the entrance, a staff member will check the temperature of customers.
• Guests are required to fill out a contact tracing form before entry.
• Motion sensor hand sanitizers and foot baths are also placed at the entrance.
• Menus are disposable, and individual serving utensils are also used.
• Posters and reminders of health protocols are placed around the restaurant.
• Tables are also set to observe proper physical distancing.



In addition to these, Kinabuchs Grill and Bar also adjusts its operating hours depending on Puerto Princesa’s curfew hours. As of October 21, the restaurant is open from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM for take-out, delivery, and dine-in. With these protocols, you can dig into Kinabuchs Grill and Bar’s best dishes safely!
