Clark Freeport in Pampanga has become a one-stop-shop destination in the country with the presence of various establishments and facilities in various fields and industries. Throughout the years, the former military base has become progressive as local and international investors continue arriving because of its business potential, sceneries, and decongested location.

This year, more improvements in tourism, real estate, medicine, and transportation are underway. Clark offers new and exciting places and happenings for locals, tourists, and expats around the globe. ShoppersGuide shares with you a glimpse of what’s new in Clark this 2018.


1. Marriott Hotel Clark

The new Mariott Hotel is already under construction this year. Made possible by the Korean-owned Widus International Leisure Inc., it will be the first five-star hotel in the city. Its targeted completion is on November 2018.

The Mariott at Clark is located at a 3.2-hectare of land beside the Widus Hotel and Casino. It will have its 260 rooms in a 15-story building that will feature the usual Mariott facilities for the high-end and millennial market.




2. Clark International Airport Passenger Target

Dubbed as the “Airport of the North,” Clark International Airport registered 1.5 million passengers last year, surpassing its highest record of 1.3 million passengers in 2012. The increase was brought about by major improvements in airport facilities and customer services that provide passenger comfort and convenience. Currently, the airport can accommodate around 200 international and domestic flights weekly, and is targeting to service 12 million passengers yearly by 2020.


3. Construction of Clark Airport Passenger Terminal

As it currently is, the Clark International Airport already helps in the decongestion of the Manila airports, but it continually pursues further developments as seen with its upcoming passenger terminal building. The construction is already in full swing this January 2018 and is expected to be completed in 28 months. It is a 101,977-square meter terminal that will allow the airport to accommodate more passengers. With the collaboration of Filipino architects and designers as well as international airport designers, the project is ensured to meet world-class standards, but would still reflect Filipino culture and landscape.


4. PPP projects 2018

Major projects are underway in Clark this 2018 via the public-private partnership or PPP. Among this year’s projects are operations and maintenance (O&M) of the Clark International Airport, the New Clark City, and the Clark-Subic rail. The PPP is the government’s effort to fast-track infrastructure development to avoid delays due to disputes among private sector proponents. These projects aim to decongest traffic and overpopulation in the National Capital Region while promoting tourism and jobs in the country.


5. New Clark City Construction Phase 1

Phase 1 of the New Clark City, formerly called the Clark Green City, has begun this January 2018 led by the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The 9,450 hectares of land is projected to become the home of 1.12 million people and 800,000 workers in the future. It will also have its own national government center, educational facilities, lifestyle and shopping centers, food-processing terminal, and international food market. The initial phase of the project is targeted to be finished by 2022.


6. PNR-Clark Construction Phase 1

The construction of the PNR Clark Phase 1 has started.


In four years’ time, traveling from Manila to Clark will be fast and easy thanks to the PNR Clark project whose phase 1 of development has already started. The initial stage of construction covers Tutuban to Malolos, which will be operational by 2021, while phase 2 covers the Clark International Airport and the new Clark City, which will be operational by 2022. The PNR Clark project will have ten stations that can accommodate an estimate of more than 300,000 passengers.


7. Additional AirAsia Domestic Flights

North and Central Luzon travel enthusiasts can now choose from more travel options to the Visayas and Palawan, as Air Asia is adding three domestic flights from Clark Airport. Starting on January 26, 2018, the low-cost carriers will offer flights from Clark to Palawan, Iloilo and Tacloban. Introductory fares will be on sale starting at P990. Clark–Puerto Princesa and Clark–Iloilo routes will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, while Clark–Tacloban flights is every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.




8. The Medical City Clark Cancer Center

Clark also houses a branch of one of the largest medical facilities in the country: The Medical City Clark. This year, the hospital is set to open the first cancer center in Central Luzon. It will offer therapy, surgery, and chemotherapy as well as offer cancer-related services to its patients.

The cancer center will have oncologists and specialist doctors as well as world-class facilities to serve and treat cancer patients in the region. This brings more convenience since they no longer need to travel to Metro Manila to seek treatment.


9. Boom of REAL ESTATE PROPERTIES

Alongside the growth of the tourism and transportation industry in Clark is also the boom of real estate properties. The progress is attributed to the industrial parks and township projects built within and outside Clark such as the Alviera estate in Porac and the New Clark City. New hotels are also constructed as more tourists flock to the province. Meanwhile, the increasing popularity of e-commerce also drives the industry growth as warehouses, logistics, and office spaces have been in demand.


10. Visit Pampanga 2018

The “Visit Pampanga 2018” campaign is a collaborative project of a group of travel agents in the province to promote its rich culture, food, and sights. One of the main features of the project is the Comercio Central, a market place, social hub, and trading area located in the Clark Parade Grounds, taking place every weekend. Also happening is the annual Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta this February.




Even if it is more popular for its delicious and mouthwatering food, Pampanga also has a variety of activities, events, and places to experience. To all adventure seekers, sports enthusiasts, religious and historical fanatics, nature lovers: Pampanga has something to offer for you.
