The battle against
COVID-19 continues, and vaccines are already being developed and authorized for use around the world. While there is no guarantee that the
COVID-19 vaccine doses will be sufficient, local governments and companies in the Philippines double their efforts to protect their people from getting infected by both the first and second strains of the virus by buying vaccine supplies.
Clark International Airport Corp., a non-chartered corporation created to develop, operate, and manage the Clark Civil Aviation Complex, announced that it plans to purchase
COVID-19 vaccine doses for its employees as part of its effort in curbing the spread of COVID-19 both in the workplace and the country. To know more about the company’s inoculation project, read on.
CIAC to purchase vaccines for employees
At the end of January, Clark International Airport, Corp. (CIAC) announced its plans to purchase COVID-19 vaccines for its employees. For this endeavor, the agency allotted a total of PhP400,000 funds from its 2021 budget. CIAC President Aaron Aquino said that a task force on the inoculation program will be made.
The task force will follow the guidelines created by the Department of Health on how to properly acquire and administer the vaccines. These guidelines will include an approval or an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration. Aquino added that while the program is a strenuous task, he still hopes that the initiative of the CIAC will help the government in its efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
While the vaccines are continuously being tested and redeveloped, CIAC believes that it’s better to protect their employees with it than take the risk of them being infected.
In the past, Clark International Airport also implemented the use of contact tracing app Traze last October 2020 to identify staff members who could have been exposed to the coronavirus so that precautionary measures can be applied early.
