Batangas is home to various historical churches, so it might be hard to determine which one to see first. Here’s a tip: why not visit the biggest one first? The Basilica de San Martin de Tours or Taal Basilica is the Philippines and Asia’s largest Catholic Church. It was built in 1575 along the banks of Taal Lake. Due to its close proximity to the volcano, it was destroyed in 1574 and reconstructed in its current location. Because of its old age, the church is not only a place for devotion but for Taal’s rich history.
