Travelers, ready your backpacks and travel essentials and start to list down your favorite go-to spots in Negros as
leisure travel in Negros Occidental will be allowed soon. Negros Occidental’s provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz proposed considering leisure travel but with corresponding conditions to ensure the “safety bubble” of the province.
Despite the threat of
COVID-19 in the province, according to Atty. Diaz, leisure travel to Negros Occidental will be allowed soon. He plans to discuss his proposal with local airline companies and ferry operators routing to Negros Occidental.
The conditions in accepting leisure travelers via sea and air in the province include vaccination proof and RT-PCR test results. They will be requiring arriving passengers to undergo isolation while waiting for the results. Given that the province already has two molecular laboratories, Diaz said that the result would be readily available after 24 hours only.
Diaz added that once the traveler is negative for COVID-19, they will be allowed to roam around the province. However, if the traveler is tested positive, the passenger will be transferred to a proper quarantine facility.
Meanwhile, this proposal on allowing leisure travelers in Negros Occidental is becoming feasible since digital vaccination ID will be available soon, which provides lesser restrictions for travelers who are already
fully vaccinated.
