The whole country is looking forward to having everything back to normal through one thing: COVID-19 vaccines. In Iloilo City, the city government hastens its inoculation efforts to reach herd immunity by launching vaccination sites in key locations. The local government takes advantage of spacious sites such as university gyms and malls as vaccination sites.
These vaccination sites in Iloilo City include the gym of Central Philippine University (CPU) in Jaro District, Ateneo School Gym in Mandurriao District, and B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and SM City Mall in Molo District. While these sites support the city’s vaccination rollout, the government eyes a more prominent vaccination site.
Recently, government officials met with the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) operators to use the center as a vaccination site. According to Iloilo Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, the operators are willing to let the city government use the center for free. He also added that the site is big enough to ensure proper physical distancing.
Meanwhile, the government encourages its constituents to register first in their respective barangays or malls before proceeding to the vaccine sites.
