Ari is all for natural looks. When she’s out of the stage spotlights, she gives her face a day or two to breathe. Her personal makeup artist Daniel Chinchilla believes that proper skincare takes a big part in achieving a great makeup look. When Ariana needs to wear her hair down, Daniel puts a touch of non-heavy makeup that can be worn daily. Highlighting and contouring are not in the picture, which is obvious in the way Ariana carries herself even in the red carpet.
Before you put anything in your face, make sure your skin is well hydrated. For dry skin, you may apply argan oil which immediately sinks into the skin, followed by a primer. Primer is essential in keeping the makeup to stay all day. Next, blend an apt amount of concealer around the eyes. Ari’s makeup artist recommends the colorless Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. According to him, this works well with any colored shadow. He also uses the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Palette, applying the bronzy hazelnut shade all over the lids, then blending in the softer milk chocolate hue to avoid unwanted harsh lines.
The next step is to apply foundation. For a foolproof result, use a dampened sponge in applying it. Then, choose a silicone-based concealer which is two shades lighter than your natural skin tone to give a brightened look to your eyes. Next, put a setting powder by using a flat powder brush to make your look last longer.
Afterwards, it’s time for the bronzer. Apply a small amount of medium bronzing powder under your cheekbones for a warmer, more pronounced face shape. Add a highlighter in the cheekbones and blend under until it looks all natural.
For a smoldering stare, run a soft brown pencil eyeliner to draw a wing tip on top of your eyes. Fill the empty area with a liquid eyeliner and don’t move until it dries. The total Ariana package is incomplete without the iconic cat eye. To achieve this, define the ends of the eyebrows first and trace inwards for a more natural look.
The last step is to pick a nude-colored lippie which will match your skin tone.
Where to buy: Urban Decay is not yet available in the Philippines. However, you can buy the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Palettes at Sephora and other online beauty shops like Beauty MNL. You can find more makeup products at major SM Malls, Robinsons Malls and Ayala Malls in Metro Manila.
