It’s that time of the year again: the countdown to Christmas. It’s when Christmas decorations hidden in the bodega are taken out, Mariah Carey’s version of All I Want for Christmas is played approximately ten times a day everywhere, and everyone gets to do their favorite activity: Christmas shopping.
Each and every one of us might have our own quirky differences, but the love for Christmas shopping is a universal thing. And what’s better than Christmas shopping? Christmas shopping at unbelievably low prices! Manila bazaars are filled with gems of stores that won’t break the bank, and so ShoppersGuide prepared a list of bazaars in their full glory for you.
1. Divisoria Market

Kicking off this list is the motherload of all tiangges (bazaars) in the entirety of Manila, nay, the entire country: Divisoria. With its endless arrays of products to choose from, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find the perfect gift whoever your receiver might be. Even items that you won’t imagine in the same line of thought, like colored skinny stretch jeans ranging from PhP100 to PhP200 and the in-demand washi tapes at PhP15, can be found here. You’ll be better off devoting an entire day when shopping to thoroughly scavenge the entire premises and find great deals. Just make sure to let your mandirigma (warrior) side out because it is bound to be crowded and chaotic. But would it really be the complete Divi experience if it wasn’t?

Situated behind the iconic Quiapo Church, Quaipo Market makes it easy to shop ‘til you drop after attending mass. While brimming with a variety of products ranging from giveaways to native trinkets to religious items, the place is also filled with a bunch of herbal concoctions sold for as low as P50 that are said to be able to alleviate pain—products that could make for great Christmas gifts for your grandpas and grandmas. Aside from these shopping treats, you’ll also get your fix of history and culture as the market and the church are prized landmarks of the Filipino culture. The market is open every day but you might want to skip it on Friday since that’s market day and a swarm of Christmas shoppers who are looking for good bargains just like you are expected to flood the place.

Cartimar also has many other stores which sell items for as low as P300, such as orchids and plant centers, sportswear, bike centers and, perhaps the most adorable of them all, pet stores where you can bring home furry babies of your own. The shopping center is a great spot to find cheap but delicious Japanese goods a.k.a. the perfect snacks after shopping your heart out.
Roxas Boulevard, Baclaran, Parañaque, Metro Manila
Baclaran is where you can let your inner haggling queen or king shine.
Known as the shopper’s paradise of South Manila, Baclaran offers bargains at fantastic prices. An assortment of trinkets like toys, clothes and accessories, sold for prices as low as P100, can be found here. The area is also surrounded by food stalls and food establishments so you won’t have to worry about getting hungry. Baclaran is also a welcome place for haggling experts who want their purchases at even lower prices However, because the Baclaran church is nearby, expect huge crowds to always fill the market so best to prepare yourself and be wary of any pickpockets looming around.
5. Greenhills Shopping Center

The shopping experience you’ll have at Greenhills Shopping Center is bound to be the most different (and convenient) from the other shopping centers. Air-conditioned and surrounded by neatly designed stalls and stores, this is the closest you’ll get to a mall-like experience while still saving some bucks. You can choose from lots of shoes, clothes, and accessories but Greenhills is best known for the replicas of designer bags like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Michael Kors, and more ranging in price from P2500 to P5000. There are also surrounding restaurants, cinemas, mini parks so you’ll have many more places to go and things to do after you’ve done your shopping.
Christmas shopping is a stressful task if you don’t know where the good deals are. But with a bit of knowledge (and luck), it can be one of the most fulfilling things, especially if it is for the ones you love.
What’s your most memorable tiangge shopping experience? We’d love to hear it in the comments below!
