Brace for wet weather in Bacolod City this week as cloudy skies will develop light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. For better traffic services, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) opened a new satellite office in Bacolod City. Meanwhile, AirAsia has now started its operations in Bacolod-Silay Airport. In other news, the International Mask and Culture Organization (IMACO) has organized an exhibit of 400 international masks in Bacolod City. Lastly, to keep the province safe from African Swine Flu, the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental organized a provincial task force to monitor ports of entries in the province. Weather Advisory: A week of rains and thunderstorms


Keep your umbrellas and raincoats handy and plan things to do indoors as more rains will prevail over the next seven days in the City of Smiles. The sun might appear through the clouds on Tuesday, November 12, but thunderstorms will redevelop until the weekend. With a forecast temperature range of 28 °C to 31 °C, the city will start to feel the cool breeze of November [1].


Traffic News: Better and bigger LTFRB office in Bacolod opens


To better serve the public, a new satellite office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has started to operate after an office blessing last October 26, 2019. This satellite office is located at Purok Paghida-et, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City [2].



LTFRB Regional Director Richard Osmeña said that the old LTFRB office located along San Juan Street across the public plaza was closed since it can no longer accommodate the growing demands of the agency’s clients. To eradicate corruption and translate to better services, the new office will operate with glass windows and closed-circuit television cameras. LTFRB will be using the office for 10 years for free including the electricity.


Travel Updates


AirAsia now in Bacolod

AirAsia, one of the countries top airlines, has inaugurated its new domestic hub in Bacolod-Silay Airport last October 26, 2019 [3]. VIPs, passengers, city officials and airport officers have witnessed the inauguration, and special gifts were also given to those who have attended the event.

The airline has started their flight operations and is now catering to travelers to and from Manila and Bacolod City. “According to the airlines’ daily flight schedule, the first flight from Manila leaves at 8:20 AM, while the last flight from Bacolod leaves for Manila at 9:30 PM. AirAsia operates are a total of six flights every day, three with a Manila-Bacolod route and three with a Bacolod-Manila route.



Exhibit of 400 international masks held in Bacolod City

From November 5 to 8, 2019, an exhibit of 400 masks from 22 countries will run in the City of Smiles. This exhibit was organized by the International Mask and Culture Organization (IMACO), a South Korea-based organization with more than 130 individual and group organizations [4].

In a press briefing in SM City Bacolod, Dawon “Ginny” Lee, chief of the IMACO International cooperation team said that they were delighted to host the exhibit in the City of Smiles. Assistance and support for the exhibit was also provided by the city government especially by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran. The upcoming conference tied to the exhibit will expect to gather some 200 delegates from 17 countries.


Task force to monitor pork products from other provinces

A total ban on pork products in the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will be implemented by the Provincial Task Force on African Swine Flu (ASF) [5]. Pork products coming from Luzon and other ASF-positive areas will be banned by the group from entering the province.



Areas under the monitoring of the task force include Bohol, Cebu, Panay and some areas in Mindanao. Provincial Veterinary Head Dr. Renante Decena said the proposal was adopted from other countries with similar moves to prevent the entry of the virus and maintain the area free from ASF.
