For the entire week, temperatures ranging from 25C to 35C are expected in Iloilo, the Philippines’s City of Love. Sunny and hot weather days are projected so travelers are advised to take extra measures to prevent heat stroke. There won’t be traffic interruptions or reroutes, but portions of roads in La Paz, Jaro, and Mandurriao districts are still under construction.

Festival

Starting March 12, 2016, Passi City, the only component city of Iloilo, will celebrate the “Pintados De Pasi Festival.” For this yearly event, the Passinhons—locals of Passi City, Iloilo— perform theatrical-like street dancing while their bodies are beautifully decorated with traditional body tattoos of elaborate geometric designs. Passi City is around an hour away from the heart of Iloilo City.

Hotel availability and rates

Iloilo’s best accommodation can be experienced at Richmonde Hotel in Iloilo Business Park. Soft-spoken Ilonggo staff will welcome guests while discounted prices are also offered for certain rooms this week.

There’s a new hotel for travelers looking for a mix of classy service and affordability—Ayala’s newest hotel in the city – Seda Hotel. The hotel is very accessible as it is just at the foot of Atria and meters away from Smallville Complex.

Meanwhile, for an atmosphere of serenity and tranquility, Hotel Del Rio will be the best choice as it is found at the riverside fronting the Iloilo Esplanade. Rooms there are also affordable especially when booked ahead.

Tourist attractions

Iloilo takes prides in its history and religious tradition. When in Iloilo, one should not miss visiting the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, which is known as well the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles, and passing by the historical, newly restored Casa Real de Iloilo where the first Vind’honneur outside Metro Manila was held. Another historical attraction takes an hour roadtrip from the city to Miag-ao—the famous Miag-ao Church which was opened in 1797 and considered as one of the best baroque churches in the Philippines.

For just Php100.00, one may taste the black burger that earned positive reviews from netizens. Another dish that visitors and Ilonggos crave is Baked Talaba. Griller’s Oyster House and Samurai have this as specialty.
