Iloilo City Starts Vaccination Registration for Ages 12 to 17

One of Iloilo City’s preventive measures against the spread of the COVID-19 virus is to consider including 12-17 years old for vaccines administration as recommended by the National Task Force Against COVID-19. The expected vaccination rollout for this age group will start either September or October, depending on supplies.

Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the City Population Office to start listing by identifying the target ages from 12 to 17 years old. As of writing, most of this age group in Iloilo City have been registered for the possible vaccination deployment. While for those interested, the requirements needed are a school ID or birth certificate and parent’s consent letter; they should go to their barangays halls with the said requirements to register for vaccination.

This preventive health measure is relative to the upcoming adolescent vaccination program by the government, starting with this age bracket by the end of September or October depends on supplies and the expert’s approvals.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given an emergency use authorization to the vaccine brand, Pfizer, to vaccinate 12 years old and above.

The Department of Health (DOH) stressed this issue to the experts that coronavirus cases among children are increasing and need immediate attention.
