While local cuisine remains a favorite in Iloilo, many new restaurants are also starting to attract diners and visitors. One that is gaining popularity in the city of love is the newly opened Born in Bread.

The restaurant cafe opened its doors to the public last February 8. It used to be an online store, accepting only orders on their website or through their Facebook page. Now, their loyal patrons and new customers can sit down and enjoy their cup of coffee and other offerings by the cafe.

One thing that made Born in Bread the talk of the town, is their croissants. A classic favorite is their butter croissant, which is so flaky and buttery. Another favorite from this local coffee shop in Iloilo is their double pain au chocolat, a delicious combination of dark chocolate and buttery goodness. Those who prefer a savory one can try their ham and cheese-filled croissant using premium ingredients.

Born in Bread’s February special—Ruby Cromoboloni.

This February, the cafe offers Ruby Cromoboloni. It's filled with original lemon curd and berry jam, then dipped in ruby chocolate, and finally topped off with chocolate soil. Besides the croissant, they also have cookies and other mouthwatering pastries. Their breads sell out fast, so coming early to the cafe is better. It's also perfect to try their bread when it's fresh from the oven.

A perfect pair for their pastries is Born in Bread’s coffee-based drinks. They have their version of Americano, latte, cappuccino, macchiato, mocha, and Spanish latte. Those who prefer non-coffee-based drinks can pair their bread with a hot chocolate, matcha latte, or tea.

Born in Bread is not just pastries, though.

This new coffee shop in Iloilo also offers fine dining treats to its guests. They have delectable starters, including soups and salads with a good serving. Their fresh fruit melange and walnut salad - a trio of fresh fruits dressed with a duo of citrus and balsamic vinegar and salad greens and walnut praline is one of their must-try. They also have salmon tartare, chicken liver pate, and butcher-style fried pork jokes.

For the entrees, you can have an onion confit smothered pork steak for brunch or dinner. It is served with fennel braised cabbage spaetzels, and bread. Those who prefer fish can try their Cedar Wood Broiled Salmon Filet served with whipped potato and vegetable melange.

Born in Bread has more specialty dishes, including seafood risotto, served over rich risotto with white wine, butter, cream, and parmesan. Another must-try is their Portuguese lamb rice served with aioli and crispy crepe allumettes. Their rib-eye steaks or beef tenderloin, served with truffled mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and crispy baby greens, are perfect for dinner dates.

As a perfect pair for their mouthwatering food, they also have wine options. For the reds, they have Matsu el Picaro, Pluvium, and Peñasl Cabernet, and Maria del Mar for white wine. They are only served by the bottle, so it's suitable for a dinner of two or for group dates.
