The sikwate and puto maya combination is popular these days owing to the rainy, cool weather. Sikwate, also known as painit in Cebu, is the Cebuano version of hot chocolate made from dried and roasted cacao beans that are manually shaped into tablets. Puto maya is steamed sticky rice which may also be paired with ripe mango, a popular fruit in Cebu. Most buffet and breakfast restaurants in Cebu offer sikwate and puto maya such as Tablea Chocolate Café, Café Laguna in Ayala Center Cebu, and Kabilin at Golden Prince Hotel & Suites. The cacao tablets can be bought from public markets.
