Where to Go for Christmas in Cebu: Best Places to Visit for the Season

Even as Christmas is the time for giving, it is also the time for us to let our hair down and enjoy the holidays. When it comes to Cebuanos, they have several options on where to go for Christmas in Cebu where they can have fun or simply relax during the holiday season.

So if ever you’re fortunate enough and find yourself to be in the Queen City of the South for Christmas, the following are just some places on where to go for Christmas in Cebu.


1. Anjo World Theme Park

Location: Belmont One, Cebu South Road, Upper Calajo-an, Minglanilla, Cebu
Travel time: About one hour and 10 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Recommended budget for two: PhP1,600 for a whole-day pass and lunch for adults

The opening of Anjo World Theme Park gave Cebuanos one more place to put on their must-visit for Christmas list. The first theme park in Cebu features 12 rides where kids and kids at heart can have the time of their lives. Among the more popular rides of the theme park are the Mr. Toad, Golden Carousel, and Viking. Anjo World is also set to open the tallest Ferris wheel soon. It also has a food park where guests can grab a bite to eat when the stomach starts rumbling.

Tip: To avoid the crowds during the weekend, the best day to visit the park is on a weekday.

How to get to Anjo World Theme Park: From the airport, get on a MyBus headed for SM City Cebu. From SM City Cebu, get on a jeepney headed for Labangon and tell the driver to let you off at Punta Princesa. From Punta Princesa, ride on a jeepney headed for Minglanilla or Naga (jeepney route no. 43 or 44). Tell the driver to drop you off at the theme park in Calajo-an, Minglanilla.

2. Boom na Boom sa Sugbo

Location: FILINVEST, South Road Properties, Cebu City
Travel time: About 46 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Recommended budget for two: PhP1,300 for the entrance fee, ten rides, and food

The Boom na Boom sa Sugbo is an annual carnival where residents and visitors of Cebu can enjoy recreational rides. Once called the Kasadya sa Sugbo, you can expect a bumper boat ride, Ferris wheel, galaxy ride, and moon rocket ride, among others, at the carnival. When hunger strikes, you do not have to worry since the carnival features food booths set up by popular food brands in Cebu.

Tip: It is wise to check the weather when planning your visit to Boom na Boom sa Sugbo. Avoid visiting the carnival right after a rain shower or a thunderstorm since the place can get muddy.

How to get to Boom na Boom sa Sugbo in South Road Properties: From the airport, get on a MyBus headed for SM City Cebu. From SM City Cebu, ride another MyBus headed for SM Seaside City Cebu and get off at the Plaza Independencia bus stop. A free shuttle service will take guests to the Boom na Boom sa Sugbo.

3. Festival of Lights in Ayala Center Cebu

Location: Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City
Travel time: About 35 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Recommended budget for two: free

The holidays will be in a festive mood when the Festival of Lights dances to the tune of Christmas at the Ayala Center Cebu.

All roads lead to Ayala Center Cebu during the Christmas season as the mall launches the Festival of Lights. Held at the Terraces area of the mall, lights hung along the terraces will dance to the tune of Christmas songs. Launched during the Christmas season of 2015, the festival has become grander each year with lights dance lasting for six minutes each. The light show runs every 30 minutes between 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Tip: To enjoy the light show, you should look for a good vantage point around five minutes before it begins.

How to get to the Festival of Lights in Ayala Center Cebu: From the airport, get on a MyBus headed for SM City Cebu. From SM City Cebu, ride a jeepney or a taxi going to Ayala Center Cebu.

4. Snow World Cebu

Location: Belmont One, Cebu South Road, Upper Calajo-an, Minglanilla, Cebu
Travel time: About one hour and 10 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Recommended budget for two: PhP700 for the entrance fee to Snow World Cebu only

A snowy Christmas is just a jeepney-ride away for Cebuanos after Snow World Cebu opened its doors in 2018. This indoor theme park gives residents and visitors of Cebu the snowy Christmas they have been dreaming of in the past. Aside from experiencing snow, guests can also have fun at the ice slide and check out the ice sculptures from the best carvers in the country. Located within Anjo World Theme Park, guests can check out the theme park before having some more fun at Snow World Cebu.

Tip: Since temperatures at the theme park are below freezing, it is advisable to wear an extra layer of clothing to ward off the cold.

How to get to Snow World Cebu: From the airport, get on a MyBus headed for SM City Cebu. From SM City Cebu, get on a jeepney headed for Labangon and tell the driver to let you off at Punta Princesa. From Punta Princesa, ride on a jeepney headed for Minglanilla or Naga (jeepney route no. 43 or 44). Tell the driver to drop you off at Anjo World Theme Park in Calajo-an, Minglanilla. Snow World Cebu is located inside Anjo World Theme Park.

5. Pasko sa Sugbo

Location: Fuente Osmeña Circle, Fuente Osmeña, Cebu City
Travel time: About 42 minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport
Recommended budget for two: PhP500 for food and drinks

A celebratory atmosphere will fill the heart of the Queen City of the South with the launch of the Pasko sa Sugbo on the first day of December.

Every year, Cebuanos come together to the iconic Fuente Osmeña Circle as they enjoy the launch of the Pasko sa Sugbo. The event normally starts with the lighting of a giant Christmas tree on December 1. Activities and performances from various sectors and organizations also fill up the holiday season every night. Food booths will also showcase a wide variety of Cebuano delicacies offered by different barangays in the city. Volunteers will be stationed in designated crossing areas as well so guests can cross the street going into the Fuente Osmeña Circle.

Tip: The best time to visit the Fuente Osmeña Circle is right after the sun sets during the Pasko sa Sugbo celebration.

How to get to Pasko sa Sugbo in Fuente Osmeña Circle: From the airport, get on a MyBus headed for SM City Cebu. From SM City Cebu, walk to the intersection fronting the Saint Joseph the Patriarch Parish (Mabolo Church) and get on a jeepney headed for Jones Ave (03B). Get off at the jeepney stop across Robinson’s Fuente.
