After all the year-ender and year-starter sales in December and January, respectively, you may wonder if there are still good deals available in the market in February—and you might be surprised to know that there is, in fact, a lot.
These are some things you can buy for less during the shortest month of the year:
1. HDTVs
Since most of the television sets available here in the Philippines are directly imported from other countries, the price changes of TV sets abroad usually affects the prices of those sold here. For example, since February is just a month after the Super Bowl, which apparently causes HDTV prices to rise in the States, the unsold ones go on sale in the Philippines. Also, developers usually launch new TV models during springtime in the US (March, April, and May). According to Offers.com, prices may go down to as much as 60% off, or even lower, during February!
2. iPads (and possibly other Apple products and other tablets)
According to Dealnews, which usually has insider scoop on gadget trade, "rumors continue to swirl about the release date of the iPad 3, and many folks believe that it will be announced at the end of February.” And this release will cause previous models to be offered on discounted prices. Resellers will also make the price cuts.
3. Travel
February is practically a low season for travel—after all the vacationing done during the holidays. Travel agencies and airlines typically offer discounted plane ticket prices during this month, while the flight itself will be scheduled on summer. So, you better watch out for great deals and promos! Aside from the airfare, hotel accommodations and resorts are also offered at discounted rates in February, as the lean season begins. Travel accessories, such as luggage, are also expected to be put on sale during this month.
4. Flowers
Valentine's Day is just around the corner and everyone seems excited to celebrate it with their loved ones. Giving flowers during this season is a common tradition for every Filipino who wants to express their love and affection to someone they love. Thus, flowers, roses especially, are among the best buys in February.
You can check the flower shops in Dangwa, Sampaloc, Manila to score affordable bouquet of flowers perfect for the occasion.
5. Jewelry
Whether you are interested in buying jewelry for yourself or as a gift for someone else, the perfect time to splurge is post-Valentine’s Day, when almost everything immediately goes on sale. Offers.com says jewelry shops usually mark their prices down by 60 to 85% compared to the prices before the blushing holiday.
And there you have it! Just remember, the best way to make big savings and get the best deals is to know what things are considered off-season. Always be aware of the latest offers and promos during specific months. But in the end, you have to make sure that you won’t buy things that you don’t really need or won’t be using, or else, the savings you made on sales will just be considered as a useless expense.
