Hurray for weekends! It’s time to set aside all the arduous work and get amused with movie and other entertainment treats scheduled on your rest day. Check out this list of shows and events, and have a blast with friends and family.

Can there be life outside Earth? Life is a fictional movie featuring six astronauts searching for signs of life beyond Earth. They found evidence of extra-terrestrial creatures on Mars. But as they study the sample, the rapidly growing organism which gains intelligence shows hysteria. The organism must be killed before it breaks away and destroys Earth.

Most millennials grew up with these five marvelous superheroes. Power Rangers is a story of five high school students who possess unique super powers. They need to harness their extraordinary abilities to save the world. But the mission would not be easy as they will need to face their personal, real-life problems before they gather again as a team and rescue the world from an alien threat.

Third World Improv and Philippine Education Theater Association (PETA) are bringing international and local improvisers at the 2017 Manila Improv Festival on March 22 to 26. Theater fans can catch spontaneous, unscripted performances by artists from Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai, Brisbane, Osaka, Tokyo, Manila, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro.

Now on its fifth edition, the Manila Improv Festival which was founded by Silly Peoples’ Improv Theater (SPIT), the premier improvisational theater group in Southeast Asia. Show schedules are posted on the official Facebook Page of PETA Theater Center.

Red Turnip Theater ends their fourth season with a sci-fi crime drama, The Nether. The story is set in the foreseeable future, when a young detective delves into a virtual place located at the heart of The Nether. As the rules and players of the game are revealed, the young detective starts to witness the most buried parts of the imagination and the darkest desires of the soul.

The Nether made its debut on West End and Off-Broadway back in 2015. Starring Bernardo Bernardo, TJ Trinidad, Jenny Jamore, Bodjie Pascua, Alba Berenguer-Testa, and JunykaSantarin, the show is directed by Ana Abad Santos. Tickets are available via TicketWorld.

Cosplay fans and enthusiasts can join a cosplay carnival this weekend.


Cosplay fans and enthusiasts are invited to attend the Cosplay Carnival on March 25 to 26 at Function Room 5 of the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex. The event promises a colorful festival with offstage activities and special cosplay guest, HaoGe. Guests can expect dance group battles, cosplay karaoke, cosplay storage wars, and more. Tickets are available thru SM Tickets online.

Digital Dimensions by artist Naoko Tosa can be seen at Yuchengco Museum in Makati City until March 31. Tosa’s works feature the Genesis video series where she played with Zen concepts by using Japanese color inks to come up with solemn figures in waters. At the heart of her creative process is a cutting-edge technology which involves playing with ink and dry ice shot with high-speed cameras.

Tosa was appointed by the Japanese Government as Japan Cultural Envoy in 2016. She has held exhibits in museums all around the world..
