Besides concerts and movies, Manila is also bustling with fairs, trade shows, expos, and exhibits to meet everyone’s interests. Whether you’re interested in books, anime, or travel, you will surely find an event for you. Here are shows in the Metro that will happen in the remaining months of 2017.


1. Manila International Book fair

Prices for books can go as low as PhP50 in the country’s biggest book fair.


The 38th Manila International Book fair (MIBF) will be held at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia. It will run from September 13 to 17 and will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Visitors can enter for a minimal entrance fee of PhP20.

The fair will offer a wide range of books from local and international authors, so bookworms might score rare finds while visitors can shop early for Christmas presents.

2. World Travel Expo

Visitors can plan their future travels at this event.


The World Travel Expo features booths, conferences, contests, activities, and workshops in line with the travel and tourism industry. It will take place on October 6 until October 8 at the SMX Convention Center.

Visitors can learn about local and international travel destinations and get discounts from hotels, cruises, and airlines. Exhibitors can establish new networks and partnerships with other business coming from the travel and tourism sector.

3. DigiCon 2017 DX: The Culture of Digital Transformation

DigiCon is the Philippine’s first and largest digital marketing congress.


The country’s biggest names in digital marketing, business, start-ups, innovators, and creatives will come together for a three-day conference at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) from October 11 to 13. One of the speakers is the award-winning principal analyst Brian Solis.

4. Manila FAME 2017

Manila Fame is the second longest-running trade show in the Asia Pacific.


Locally-designed and crafted furniture, home furnishings, holiday gifts and decors, and fashion accessories will be featured in the 2017 Manila Fame, which will happen on October 20 to 22 at the World Trade Center, Manila.

Manila Fame is a bi-annual event organized by the Department of Trade and Industry. The event aims to showcase the innovation, craftsmanship, and artisanship of Filipino products to the global market.

5. Cosplay Mania

Cosplay Mania is the second to the last event of the series organized by Cosplay.ph.


Filipino costume players or cosplayers and anime fans will meet up for Cosplay Mania at the SMX Convention Center on September 30 to October 1. Visitors can observe the spectacular sight of cosplayers, explore shops, participate in contests, and attend the concert at the venue. Freebies and giveaways will be also given to all ticket holders.

6. The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music features the songs “Do-Re-Mi”, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and “So Long, Farewell.”


The heartwarming musical classic, The Sound of Music, will be having a series of shows starting from September 27 until October 15 at The Theater at the Solaire Resort and Casino.

This Broadway classic revolves around Maria, an Austrian woman who acts as a governess to and teaches the von Trapp children how to sing despite the objection of their strict father.

7. Distinct Refinements: Paintings from the Provinces

Works of local artists are featured at the exhibit.


Distinct Refinements: Paintings from the Provinces is an exhibit that has been on-going since June 22 and will run until October 28 at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. The exhibit showcases artworks aligned with the theme of Filipino heritage and culture.

The pieces came from collections by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, private institutions, and collectors, and were curated by Prof. Santiago Albano Pilar.

8. Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit 2017

The Philippines will host one of the biggest gaming events in Southeast Asia.


The E-sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) will take place at the SMX Convention Center on October 27 to 29.

The event will feature various electronic sports (E-sports) competitions for amateur and professional players organized by different gaming companies and organizations. Major and independent gaming companies will also present their gaming platforms, software programs, and services to the public.

9. Dinosaurs Around The World

The exhibit will have children and even children at-heart fascinated.


The international travelling exhibit will be open to the public starting September 1, 2017 until March 2, 2018 at The Mind Museum, Taguig City.

Visitors can expect realistic-looking dinosaurs built with advanced animatronics, displays of authentic dinosaur fossils and casts, engaging narratives, immersive set designs, and educational activities.

10. 16th Franchise and Business Expo

The Franchise and Business Expo is one of the biggest and longest-running trade shows in the Philippines.


The 16th Franchise and Business Expo will happen at the World Trade Center from September 29 to October 1.

The expo is open to all privately and publicly-owned businesses, budding entrepreneurs, professionals, university students, and consumers. Local and international brands will exhibit their products at the event. Informative seminars, activities, and opportunities are also organized by entrepreneurs, government agencies, and partner organizations for individuals interested in starting their own business.
