New to this activity? Don’t worry! Our country is filled with mountains that you can hike even if both of you are beginners. Some of the easier hikes you can try include Mt. Manalmon in Bulacan, Mt. Pinatubo in Zambales, or Mt. Batolusong in Tanay, Rizal. If you prefer a more challenging hike, you can enjoy mountains like Mt. Tapulao in Zambales or Mt. Natib in Bataan.

Another unique activity that you can do this month of love is to volunteer. Aside from spending quality time with your significant other, you’ll also go home with your hearts full as you’ll also be able to give back to others.

One popular volunteer organization is Gawad Kalinga or GK, a group that aims to end poverty and restore human dignity to various communities in the country. Some of the activities that you can join include building a house, joining their kitchen crew, or participating in their annual Bayani Challenge, a week-long event filled with various activities to help different communities in the country.

If you and your partner are history and photography buffs, a great activity to try this upcoming Valentine’s is visiting a museum. Metro Manila is home to various museums that explore the past and the present of our country. While National Museum of the Philippines and Ayala Museum are popular choices, a new attraction called Dessert Museum can also be a great option for you and your partner this coming Valentine’s Day.

Dessert Museum is home to eight interactive rooms that feature various sweets that everyone knows and love. Aside from the colorful and interactive displays, you’ll also get to taste free desserts as you explore the entire museum! Dessert Museum is at Unit 124, 126, 127a, S Maison, Coral Way, Conrad Hotel Manila. It will open on February 10, and early bird rates are at PhP699, while regular weekday and weekend rates are at PhP799 and PhP899, respectively.

No relationship is safe from life’s problems, but there’s one problem you and your special someone might enjoy, and that is Puzzled PH. Puzzled PH is an interactive playground for adults where you need to solve multiple problems until you reach the finish line.

The place is filled with nine huge, life-size puzzles like Tetris and pinball maze that will test your wits and logic. You and your partner can compete with each other until one of you solves the final puzzle and be declared the winner. The whole course will take around one hour to an hour and a half to finish and it’s best to reserve a slot before coming to the playground. Puzzled PH is at Roof deck PHASES Building, 2823 Zamora Street, Pasay City. The rate for two to three players is PhP350, four to five players is PhP300, and six to eight players is PhP250.

Couples who love animals now have no need to go to the zoo to have fun. The rise of pet cafés in the recent years made it possible for pet lovers to interact with various animals, particularly cats and dogs, without the restriction of cages.

One particular café you can visit is Barkin’ Blends Dog Cafe. They have a human zone where you can try their various offerings of food and drinks inspired by the name of their pets. The dog zone on the other hand has an entrance fee of PhP219 but it allows you to freely interact with their dogs. But once you enter the dog zone, don’t forget to follow the in-house rules and respect the pups. Barkin’ Blends is at The Brickroad, Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, Cainta, Rizal.

6. Take a photowalk.

Remember the last time when you and your special someone spent time together walking hand in hand? If not, make V-day extra special and intimate for the two of you by walking in and around Bonifacio Global City. Aside from the fact that BGC is a walkable city, murals by Bonifacio Arts Foundation make it a picturesque city perfect for a photo opportunity.

Some of the artworks you can visit include May You Find Comfort Here by K.F.K. collective located at Bonifacio High Street B1 building, Wallflowers by artist Trip63 at Bonifacio High Street B2 building, and the humungous Wonderland by Falie located at One Global Place, 26th street corner 5th Ave. Aside from time well spent, you’ll also go home with lots of photos and memories.
