Hotels bring together two hospitality aspects that every guest should be entitled to: luxury and convenience. Metro Manila has a host of hotels that offer both, and before the end of the year, another establishment will be added to this exclusive roster.

Luxury hotel brand Hotel Okura Co. Ltd., which also owns restaurant businesses worldwide, has partnered with Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc. to open Hotel Okura Manila. This is the luxury chain’s first branch in the Philippines, and its opening is set on the fourth quarter of 2018 before the year officially ends. The property is going to be located on Newport Boulevard in Pasay City.

Owing to its prime location, Hotel Okura Manila will serve as a gateway to one of the country’s biggest business and retail districts, Makati City, and it will also be accessible to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In keeping with its developer’s brand of hospitality, Hotel Okura Manila seeks to uphold the world-class Okura-style warmth in its features and facilities. It will be equipped with a bar, all-day dining services, and a variety of dining options, including offerings from Spanish and Japanese cuisines. It will also house a total of 191 rooms all averaging 60 square meters each in eleven aboveground floors. In addition to these, the hotel will also feature a banquet hall, a meeting room, a fitness gym, and a swimming pool.

Hotel Okura Co. Ltd. was founded in 1958, and Hotel Okura Tokyo, its flagship hotel, was opened four years later in 1962. Meanwhile, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. has Alliance Global Group Inc. and Genting Hong Kong as its major shareholders—the latter featuring Resorts World Manila as one of its premium leisure brands.

According to Toshihiro Ogita, president of Hotel Okura Co. Ltd., the growing economy of the Philippines is their primary reason in investing in a property in the country. In a statement, he said, “As Hotel Okura’s first hotel to open in the Philippines, we will leverage the group’s expertise in traditional Japanese hospitality to make Hotel Okura Manila a much-beloved hotel among both local and foreign visitors. For the past five years, the Philippines has experienced high economic growth surpassing 6% per annum, and its tourism market is expected to achieve mid- to long-term growth [1].”

“The Philippines, especially Manila, is a very promising market considering the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) and population size, both of which are growing fast. The local hotel business is benefiting from these and other favorable trends,” Ogita also added. [2]

Hotel Okura Co. Ltd is also looking to expand its name to 100 properties worldwide. In the near future, the hotel chain aims to build branches in major cities like Taichung in Taiwan, Yangon in Myanmar, and Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.
