For those who plan to head to Manila for this week, here are some things to know: the weather will be mostly sunny and several roads in Quezon City and Pasig City are expected to have heavier traffic due to the continuation of road reblocking. Meanwhile, those who will leave the country will have a more convenient processing time at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) due to the newly installed e-gates.
Weather: Sunny with chances of light showers
Bring an umbrella before heading outside this week since the weather will be sunny with a chance of light showers in the afternoon. The wind is expected to be warm as the temperature would consistently range from 32 to 33 °C [1].
Traffic news: DPWH resumes road reblocking in C-5, EDSA, and Batasan
Commuters who frequent four road sections of Quezon and Pasig City are advised to take alternate routes as the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) will resume several road reblocking projects in Quezon and Pasig City which were conducted from October 12 to 15.
The following are the affected roads in Quezon City: Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), southbound after Eugenio Lopez to Scout Borromeo Street, the MRT line and northbound direction from Trinoma Mall, 6th lane from the center island, and the northbound direction of Sinagtalaga Street to Batasan - San Mateo Road, 4th lane.
Meanwhile, in Pasig City the affected roads would be the southbound direction of C-5 from after Julia Vargas to before Lanuza Avenue [2].
Travel updates: New NAIA immigration e-gates now operational
Five e-gate machines were installed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in an effort to lessen the processing time of travelers to only 8 to 15 seconds compared to the previous 45 seconds.
The machines will enhance the security capability of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) by including features like adding security checks, facial recognition, barcode reader, smart card recognition, and biometric scanning in one system.
Another capability of the machine is that it can accurately pinpoint passengers who are in the watch list or persons of interest in immigration formalities. Additional five units will be installed at the NAIA Terminal 3 and three would be installed in NAIA Terminal 2 [3].
