Market Price Watch (December 18, 2018)

Here are the prices of goods in Nepa Qmart for your noche buena shopping.

For this week’s Market Price Watch, the Yoorekka team went to Nepa Qmart in Cubao, Quezon City to check the availability and price range of basic goods and commodities as of December 17, 2018.

Rice

According to the suggested retail price board at the Nepa Qmart, the price of NFA rice in the market is at PhP27 per kilogram (kg), while Sinandomeng sells for PhP45. Meanwhile, malagkit rice retails for PhP75/kg.

Sugar, Salt, and Pepper

A kilo of white sugar sells for PhP50, while brown sugar is at PhP45. Salt is priced at PhP18/kg and pepper is at PhP5 per packet.

Fish, Meat, and Poultry

For fish, tilapia sells for PhP95/kg, galunggong (round scand) for PhP65/kg, and milkfish for PhP190/kg. For meat, a kilo of beef goes for PhP220, pork sells for PhP200/kg, and ham sells for PhP110/250g. For poultry, a whole chicken is priced at PhP160 while eggs sell for PhP5.20/piece.

Vegetables

Prices for vegetables are the following: onion, PhP100/kg; garlic, PhP70/kg; tomatoes, PhP70/kg; cayenne pepper, PhP300/kg; potatoes, PhP40/kg; carrots, PhP40; pechay, PhP10/bunch; kangkong, PhP10/bundle; and cabbage, PhP61/head.

Fruits

Banana in Nepa Qmart sells for PhP58 per hand. Apple sells for PhP20/per piece and orange sells for PhP25.

Canned goods

Canned goods such as meatloaf, canned tuna, and sardines are not available in the market because there is a grocery nearby.

The availability of products in Nepa Qmart is plenty for consumers with the exception of canned goods and NFA rice.
