Here are the first concerts you can watch in 2019.



A new year is not only the start of new opportunities, but also a fresh start for music lovers since with the New Year comes a fresh batch of concerts and live shows to catch. The roster of concerts in Metro Manila this January 2019 features a varied bunch. First, we have the young and talented Waynehart Claire Geonzon who will charm you with her powerful voice. Then there’s Planetshakers, returning to Manila to the delight of their fans. For OPM fans, there would be a collaborative concert between Kara Mitzki and Top Suzara. Taking Back Sunday and Queen Nation will also grace the stage this month. For the full details of all the concerts in Metro Manila this 2019, read on!


1. Planetshakers Conference 2019

When: January 18, 2019; 8:00 PM

After the success of their concert in Manila last year, Planetshakers will return to the country to the delight of their fans. Planetshakers is an Australian contemporary worship music band that aims to unite all generations in praising God through song.

Planetshakers is behind popular songs such as “Endless Praise,” “Through It All,” “Nothing Is Impossible,” and “Turn It Up.” In addition to their concert, the band will also have a conference at the same day. The first Planetshakers Conference was held in 1997. Tickets are available at Ticketnet outlets and Ticketnet online.




How to get to the Smart Araneta Coliseum: Ride the LRT-2 or MRT-3 up to the Araneta Center Cubao Terminal Station. Exit the station and walk towards the Gateway Mall. Smart Araneta Coliseum can be seen from the area.


2. MUSIC and ME - Waynehart Claire Geonzon

As a contestant in The Voice Kids when she was six, Waynehart Claire Geonzon captivated the audience with her voice and charm. Her exposure to the show as part of Team Lea opened more doors for her as she eventually went on to compete in the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) under the Youngest Semi-Finalist in Vocal Categories. Claire was also the champion of the World Division Winner in Opera Multi-Medalists. In Music and Me, her upcoming concert this January, she will be joined by special guests. How to get to the Music Museum: Ride the MRT-3 and alight at the Ortigas Station. Take the northbound exit and head to Robinsons Galleria. Cross to the other side and ride a jeepney en route to San Juan. You can also take any bus that will pass Quiapo. Ask the driver to drop you off at Greenhills Shopping Center. Upon arriving at Greenhills, walk along the right side until you reach Promenade Mall. The Music Museum is just beside the mall.




3. KARA TO THE TOP

When: January 25, 2019; 8:00 PM

Kara to the Top is a collaboration between Kara Mitzki and Top Suzara. Kara Mitzki is a model, dancer, and singer who released songs such as “Tayo” (Us). Meanwhile, Top Suzara was a member of popular OPM band Freestyle who went on a solo career and produced songs such as “Sabihin Mo Na” (Say It Now) and “Ikaw Lamang” (Only You). Tickets are available at SM Tickets outlets and SM Tickets online.

4. Taking Back Sunday Live In Manila: 20th Anniversary Tour

When: January 26, 2019; 6:00 PM
Where: New Frontier Theatre

American rock band Taking Back Sunday will be back in Manila as part of their 20th Anniversary Tour. The rock band gained fame during the early 2000s for their hits such as “Cute Without the E,” “Make Damn Sure,” and “You’re So Last Summer.” Throughout their two decades in the industry, the band has been considered as one of the most influential bands of their era and has inspired many amateur rock bands.




How to get to the New Frontier Theatre: Ride the LRT-2 and alight at the Araneta Center Cubao Terminal Station. Exit to Aurora Boulevard and take a right turn once you approach the major intersection. You will see New Frontier Theatre, which was formerly known as Kia Theatre, near Isetann Mall.


5. Queen Nation Live Concert

When: January 30, 2019
Prices: PhP4,000 – General Price






After the phenomenal Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” reignited Queen’s popularity especially with the younger generation, many of the newer fans might want to experience the band’s music live. The same might go for the older fans who want to relieve their childhood by listening to Queen’s popular hits. Both groups don’t need a time machine to do so as one of Queen’s famous tribute bands, Queen Nation, will have a show in the country. The band will perform various Queen hits such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and “Love Of My Life.” Tickets are available at SM tickets outlets and SM tickets online.

How to get there: The Cove is located in Okada Manila. Tips for purchasing tickets and watching the show:

• Check the ticket transaction policy before buying tickets.
• If buying for your group, check first how many tickets can be issued per person.
• Be updated on last-minute changes or cancellations by following the social media accounts of the event organizer, the artist, or the venue.
• Never buy tickets from unofficial distributors. Be wary of scalpers who tend to put extra costs on tickets.
• If the show is for free seating, arrive early so you have better chances of getting the best seats.
• If the show has seating assignments, practice basic courtesy and never take someone else’s seat.
• Do make sure to follow the rules and regulations of the venue. Take note of what is allowed to bring inside the venue.
• If there is a dress code, make sure to follow it.
• To avoid theft, keep your personal belongings close to you at all times.
