The midterm elections will be on Monday.
The Philippines’ national and local elections will fall on May 13, 2019. This is the day when Filipinos will decide who will get seats in the congress and in local posts. Although it is yet to be announced as a holiday, it is likely. Besides the election, the general travel condition to Metro Manila this week will be ideal. The weather will remain humid, but the chance for rain will persist as the week goes on.
For traffic, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has suspended the provincial bus ban dry run, but will strictly enforce the “no loading and unloading” policy for provincial buses along EDSA. In terms of travel, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) added more screeners at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) checkpoints. Keep reading to get the full details.
Weather: Sunny with chance of thunderstorms
The weather will remain hot but expect a few thunderstorms to occur on several days of the week. The day temperature for the whole week is expected to fall between 33 °C to 34 °C [1]. As protection against the sun and the rain, always bring an umbrella. Applying sunscreen on your skin is also recommended, especially if engaging in outdoor activities. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear clothing made from light materials to let your skin breathe.
Traffic News: MMDA suspends dry run of provincial bus ban
The MMDA halted the dry run of the provincial bus ban along EDSA as the pending guidelines are still yet to be finalized with other involved agencies. However, the strict enforcement of the “no loading and unloading” policy along EDSA is still implemented [2]. This means that provincial buses can only drop off passengers in their terminals. The dry run will resume after the guidelines and implementing rules are resolved.
Travel Update: MIAA increases ‘screeners’ at NAIA
More personnel at the screening checkpoints will be added by MIAA to make sure that every tourist observes proper queueing at NAIA Terminal 3. MIAA took the initiative following reports of foreigners not following queueing etiquettes [3].
