Teens below 18 years old can now pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The national government has yet to give a green light on the anti-COVID-19 vaccination of minors. Now, the government is targeting to vaccinate minors after vaccinating senior citizens, frontliners, immunocompromised, essential workers, and non-essential workers. Since there are alarming records of COVID-19 cases amongst younger people, the government now plans to inoculate those below 18 years old to protect them from contracting severe cases. Still, several local government units (LGU) in Metro Manila accept vaccine pre-registration for minors, ages 12 to 17 years old.

Caloocan City

In his Facebook post last September 1, Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan announced the online vaccination registration for Caloocan residents ages 12 to 17. The profiling is accessible through this link https://bit.ly/Caloocan_profiling17?fbclid=IwAR3mJOoeJhCc10kYx1Kz5F0v4JHq4KzTW83uHFPcwfgaSYC-Kt6jaECTGpc

Manila City

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso also released an advisory detailing the guide for vaccine registration. While there is no complete schedule yet for the vaccination dates, Mayor Isko said pre-registration is still essential in vaccination preparation. Individuals can register through https://www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph/home.php.

Pateros City

A QR code for registration was shared by the Pateros LGU through their Facebook post last September 8. The QR code can be scanned through this post: https://www.facebook.com/isangPateros/posts/4493896744000660.

Taguig City

Registration for minors living in Taguig City is accessible through the Taguig Trace app. To complete their registration, underage residents must upload an ID or documents that will show their proof of age. It also applies to non-residents who are studying in Taguig, with the addition of providing school ID. Registration is free.

As for other areas, LGUs are still coordinating and preparing. In Quezon City, schools are coordinating in providing a complete master list of students in the area. Schools are also seen as vaccination sites, according to QC vaccination Chief Joseph Juico. As for those under homeschooling and out-of-school youths, barangays cooperate by the census in their respective areas.

Other cities that open the registration for vaccination against the COVID-19 for minors include Makati, Caloocan, Muntinlupa, and Mandaluyong.

Recently, vaccine brands like Pfizer and Moderna were approved by the country’s drug regulators for use to those 12 to 17 years old.
