You might spend your last summer indoors due to the pandemic. But now, many summer destinations in the Philippines are once again open for tourists. This year, you can now visit some of the beautiful places in the country. If you’re missing the beach and tropical paradise, you’re in luck: there are now Palawan summer destinations accepting domestic tourists! Once you prepare your travel requirements, you can check out the beautiful Palawan summer destinations below.
1. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park & World Heritage Site
Location:Sitio Sabang, Bgy. Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City
Rates:
PhP50 – Entrance fee for 20 years old and below
PhP73 – Audio device
PhP100 – Entrance fee for 21 years old and above

When you think about summer destinations in the Philippines, there’s no denying that the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) is one of the destinations that come to mind. The UNESCO World Heritage site was reopened to local tourists last December 8, 2020, as part of their “Balik Turismo, Balik Trabaho'' campaign. Last year, only around 500 visitors were accepted daily, a third of the 1,500 headcounts before the pandemic. Walk-ins are also not allowed since the PPSRNP management will document and track the number of visitors.

2. Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park
Location:Municipality of Cagayancillo, Province of Palawan
Rates:
PhP250 per person for divemaster fee
PhP5,000 – Visitors entrance fee

Want to dive underwater? The Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park is now open for new and veteran divers. Like the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, the natural reef park is also a World Heritage Site protected because of the biodiverse marine life living in the 10,000 hectares of coral reef. Based on research conducted in the 1980s, the reefs are home to over 600 species of fish, 360 species of corals, 11 species of sharks and rays, and 13 species of dolphins and whales. Above the surface, you will also get to see 100 species of birds.

The resort is one of the accredited hotels and resorts by the Department of Tourism.

Despite the summer heat, you can chill underneath the shade of coconut trees. But if you want to cool down even more, then take a dip in the crystal waters by the beach.
