Going to Boracay? Here Are the Latest Travel Requirements You Should Know

The community alert level of Aklan, where Boracay Island is located, is currently under Alert Level 1.

The Malay Tourism Office has also announced the recent and updated Boracay travel requirements, guide, and protocols implemented in Boracay and when traveling through Caticlan Port for all inbound travelers to comply.

All travelers bound to Boracay should secure the following Boracay travel requirements, whether in soft or hard copies:

● A Quick Response (QR code)

● A valid identification card or ID, a proof of identification that a traveler is a resident of the Philippines—which is a requirement applicable to Returning Overseas Filipinos, Authorized Person Outside Residents (APORs), and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs)

● A passport is required for foreign travelers and overseas workers.

● Proof of vaccination status in the form of a vaccination card and/or a legitimate vaccination certificate (VaxCertPH)

● A soft or hard copy of the traveler’s confirmed hotel booking.

● A roundtrip flight and travel information are the basic Boracay travel requirements and important documents that a traveler should secure when traveling to Boracay and Caticlan Port.

The Quick Response or QR Code is secured through the Online Health Declaration Card or OHDC. To get the QR Code, proceed to https://www.touristboracay.com/, choose ‘Agree’ and click ‘Proceed’. Fill out the necessary details in the form, and be sure to input the correct visitor type, whether you are a foreign or domestic traveler or an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). Follow and key in other succeeding details, and once done, a confirmation window will let the traveler access his QR code. This would be a downloadable file that a traveler can save on his phone, is printable, and can be digitally saved through a screenshot. It is vital to secure the QR Code when traveling as this will be used in land, air, and sea ports of entry and exit when traveling to Boracay.

As for the vaccination status requirement from fully vaccinated individuals, other than the vaccination card and the VaxCertPH COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate, a World Health Organization International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis can also be accepted, a traveler can also access legitimate proof of vaccination through the accepted and recognized national COVID-19 vaccination certificates which can be accessed at https://visitor.tourism.gov.ph/vaxcert/.

A negative RT-PCR test result administered 72 hours before departure is to comply for unvaccinated travelers bound to Boracay. For passengers ages 12 and below, the guardian or accompanying adult should secure a Certificate of Undertaking Traveling with Minors which can be accessed through https://www.aklan.gov.ph.

Many still ask if there are still restraints on accepting tourists in Boracay. Boracay is open for all travelers and tourists as long as they comply with the recent Boracay travel requirements and imposed guidelines.
