Aklan and Boracay are now classified under Alert Level 1, paving the way for travelers and tourists to enter and enjoy a vacation on the island.

Now that Aklan and Boracay are under Alert Level 1, travel protocols are more lenient, and it is an opportunity to enjoy the white sand beaches of Boracay. Other than marveling at the sight of the sunsets, travelers and tourists can also explore other activities since some travel regulations are not strict anymore, compared to the past months when active cases started to surge again.

1. Trekking at Mt. Luho
Boracay is home to many long, pearly sand beaches, but some tourists still have never heard of the majestic Mt. Luho, also located in Boracay Island. Now that Boracay is classified under Alert Level 1, trekking activities no longer have to process any requirements. Mt. Luho is a recommended travel spot, and trekking is one new activity to explore. This tall rock formation lets you indulge in panoramic views of the entire island of Boracay. From the top, travelers and trekkers can see the overlooking view of the golf course, beaches, and horizon views from the summit’s platform.

2. Cook the freshest seafood from The Talipapa Market
The Talipapa Market in Aklan is also open and ready to sell travelers a great range of fresh seafood that you can take with you and cook delicious seafood dishes for your gastronomic pleasure.

3. Bike tours on the island’s coast
A bike tour on the island’s coast is also a must-try venture for seasoned travelers who want to incorporate physical activities in Boracay other than strolling the beaches. Some travelers have put health and wellness a top priority since the start of the pandemic era. Unknown to some tourists, Boracay is also a heavenly place for bikers and cyclists, as they are stunned by the numerous sightings they can see while biking. Riding a bike also lets travelers explore more of the hidden, undiscovered corners of the island while engaging their bodies in healthy physical movement. Bike rentals are available at the D’Mall Boracay and on other beaches. Bike rentals cost an estimate of PhP100 per hour.

4. Enjoy a food trip
Another activity that travelers cannot miss is the food trip venture. From seafood dishes and authentic Filipino cuisine to an international menu, a food trip travel venture in Aklan and Boracay is a must tick on your getaway to-do list. Since dine-in services are lenient under Alert Level 1, travelers can enjoy Boracay restaurants and bars. A new engagement in Boracay named the Food Crawl Program showcases iconic menus of each food establishment on the island, highlighting the gastronomic and culinary culture of Boracay. Various food stalls and “paluto” services are also available in Boracay for travelers to add to their food trip experience.

5. Get the relaxation you deserve
Close contact is also now allowed under Alert Level 1 premises, and with this, spas and wellness resorts in Boracay are back to welcome you to their relaxing havens. Pampering oneself is in addition to traveler’s health and wellness priorities amid the ongoing pandemic, and Boracay spas are back to the new normal services to provide travelers the rest or relaxation they deserve.

6. Workcation in the new normal
For workaholics who need a breather but unfortunately cannot leave their workload, Boracay also offers numerous workcation hotels and accommodation on the island. Under Alert Level 1, travelers can have the option to go to Boracay and bring their work with them. A balance between work and fun is guaranteed when you are staying in one of the classy hotels of Boracay while not compromising your workload. The Department of Tourism has officially partnered with 20 hotels in Boracay for the workcation accommodation, where hotel and resort establishments put up the necessary amenities such as a stable internet connection and co-working space for their guests.

Boracay COVID-19 alert status

Amendments on the guidelines of the alert level systems have been approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force, placing some areas in the country under Alert Level 1, including Aklan and Boracay, effective until March 15.

According to the recent amendments, there are no more restrictions regarding the establishment’s indoor and outdoor capacities in areas under Alert Level 1. Travel guidelines under Alert Level 1 allow intrazonal and interzonal travel regardless of age and comorbidities.

Also, under Alert Level 1, all establishments, activities, and individuals are now permitted to work and operate or be held on-site, as long as minimum health and safety travel protocols are consistently observed. However, proof of complete vaccination is still required upon entry in some establishments, so it is advisable always to bring your vaccination cards or vaccination certificates with you.

As of writing, fully vaccinated tourists coming from visa-free countries are allowed entry in the country, provided that they comply with the requirements and legitimate proofs of vaccination.

Enjoy the island of Boracay and have the opportunity to engage in these activities permitted while Aklan is under Alert Level 1.
