After months of restaurants offering only take-out and delivery, dine-in services are now allowed in GCQ areas as long as establishments follow strict health safety protocols. Now, patrons can once again come to their favorite popular fast food chains and restaurants to dine in.

Safety is still an issue, though, so if you want to feel at ease while eating, try going to outdoor restaurants. Their bigger spaces make social distancing easier, and their beautiful setups are also a big plus. Not sure where to go? 1. Greg & Sally Tree Garden Cafe

Location: 145 Ipil St corner Champaca, Marikina Heights, Marikina City
Operating hours:
Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Saturday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Closed on Mondays

Located in Marikina Heights, this garden restaurant is a peaceful spot in the busy city.

Greg and Sally Tree Garden Café reopened their doors for al fresco dine-in last June 20. This cozy restaurant sets dining tables at a proper distance from each other so there would be proper social distancing between diners. Greg and Sally Tree Garden Café offers various Filipino comfort food such as sizzling pork sisig (minced and fried pig ears), sinigang (sour tamarind soup), and tocino with bagoong rice (sweet cured pork sausage with fermented shrimp rice).



2. Blackbird

Location: Nielson Tower, Ayala Triangle 1209 Makati
Operating hours: Open daily, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM

One of Makati’s most sophisticated restaurants, Blackbird fuses classics with contemporary Asian cooking. They prioritize the safety of their diners by cleaning and disinfecting their facilities thoroughly. Along with the thorough disinfection, they also redesigned the layout of their restaurant to make sure there is enough distance between tables. Blackbird also trained their staff to strictly implement the safety rules prescribed by the government. When dining in, customers have the choice to dine at their spacious al fresco terrace, grill room, or their upstairs dining room.


3. Rustic Mornings by Isabelo Garden

Location: 11 Isabelo Mendoza St. San Roque, Marikina City
Operating hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Rustic Mornings by Isabelo will implement strict safety protocols as they reopen their charming outdoor garden dining area. For one, they will be requiring diners to make table reservations. Once at the restaurant, guests will be required to have their body temperature checked and to fill out a health declaration form for contact tracing. Guests who have fever and flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to enter. Wearing face masks will also be required at all times except when eating and drinking. Alcohol stations will also be installed within the establishment, and physical distancing will be observed in dining areas, queuing areas, and restrooms.


4. Ilustrado Restaurant

Location: 744 General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila
Operating hours: Open daily, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Ilustrado Restaurant reopened for dine-in services on July 1st. Along with their reduced capacity, the restaurant will also be limiting their menu options for the cafe and best sellers. The old style restaurant is known for their Spanish garden courtyard, cafe, and neo-classic main dining room. Their specials include paella Ilustrado, callos Madrilena (stew with ox tripe, chorizo, pimientos, bacon slab, and garbanzos), and adobong bagnet with crab fat (marinated deep fried pork belly).



5. Ninyo Fusion Cuisine & Wine Lounge

Location: 66 Esteban Abada Street, Loyola Heights, Quezon City
Operating hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Closed on Mondays

For everyone’s safety, NINYO Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge will be opening their dine-in services for reservations only. Guests who are feeling unwell and have flu-like symptoms are encouraged to stay in their homes. At the restaurant, foot baths will be installed at the entrance. Customers will also be required to wear face masks, fill out a health declaration form, and have their temperature checked. Alcohol dispensers will also be provided for disinfection.


Dining in will never be the same, but following these restaurants’ health protocols will make it as safe as possible under the new normal.
