Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, people have been asked to stay indoors for over two months. Besides reminiscing about the outside world, some also pass the time by planning trips once the pandemic is over. One of the no-fail domestic destinations people look at is Palawan, which is known for its pristine beaches and breathtaking tourist spots.
When it comes to your post-pandemic travel list, you will definitely find many Palawan spots worthy to be added. To help you out , below are seven beautiful Palawan spots and natural wonders that are worth the visit after the quarantine.
1. Puerto Princesa Underground River
Location: Puerto Princesa
Recommended budget: PhP1,500 to PhP2,500 for the tour
The tour explores the first 1.5 kilometers of the cave.
Undeniably one of Palawan’s pride, the Puerto Princesa Underground River, also known as the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, is an otherworldly wonder. It is found within Princesa Subterranean National Park, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, and is also named as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011.
The underground river tour shows the beauty of natural minerals and rock formations in the cave that have formed over thousands of years. Outside, the calm and clear waters complement the beautiful scenery. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
2. Kayangan Lake
Location: Coron Island
Recommended budget: PhP5,000 and above
Tourists can explore Kayangan Lake’s many features.
If there’s one spot in Palawan that tourists never fail to include in their bucket list, it is Kayangan Lake. Boasting pristine blue-green waters, the lake is a popular snorkeling site thanks to its awesome underwater rock formations. If you’re not into snorkelling, you can simply hang out by the lake and marvel at the beautiful surroundings. Experienced swimmers can also try epic free-diving.
3. Nacpan Beach
Location: El Nido
Recommended budget: PhP2,000 and above
Nacpan Beach spans 4 kilometers.
Tourists claim that Nacpan Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in El Nido. With its clear waters and soft cream-colored sand, the beach is a sight to behold. It also has a calm atmosphere that is perfect for those who just want to chill out and relax by the water. On the beach, you will also find a resto-bar filled with refreshing food and drinks. The Calitang Beach—which form the Twin beaches with Nacpan—can also be seen if you walk around.
4. Big Lagoon
Location: El Nido
Recommended budget: Around PhP5,000 for 4-day stay

Even just by looking at photos of the Big Lagoon, you’ll already know that it is a must-visit. Surrounded by stunning emerald waters, the lagoon is a beautiful spot for kayaking and paddling. If you want to level up your experience, you can also explore the deep blue waters and see all the wildlife living underneath. The towering limestone formations could also serve as a pretty backdrop for a picture.
5. Honda Bay Islands
Location: Puerto Princesa, Palawan
Recommended budget: PhP2,000 and above
Tours of the Honda Bay Islands vary on the weather and regulations of the local government.

A Honda Bay tour includes a visit to the islands within it, and each offers thrilling nature experiences. For snorkeling and swimming, Luli Island, Starfish Island, and Cowrie Island are worth the visit. If you want to have a little private tour, Pandan Island can be visited as well. Along with fine sand and clear waters, there are also diving sites stuffed with corals and sand. A small reef with aquarium fish and other marine life can also be found within the islands.
6. Talaudyong Beach
Location: Puerto Princesa
Recommended budget: PhP2,000 and above

“Paradise” is one word to describe Talaudyong Beach. With its powdery sand, long stretch of palm trees, and view of the mesmerizing sunset, Talaudyong can be your go-to beach for relaxation. This wouldn’t be hard to do, as there are many spots in the beach where you can relax, from gazebos, nipa huts, to even under the trees! If you’re a surfer, you might find Talaudyong Beach a good place to practice because of its big waves.
7. Pambato Reef
Location: Puerto Princesa
Recommended budget: PhP1,500 and above
The Pambato Reef spans 16.9 hectares and has an average depth of 13 meters.

Found in the middle of Honda Bay, the Pambato Reef is a marine sanctuary that is composed of ear corals which serve as home to barracuda, lapu-lapu, sergeant major, parrotfish, and spadefish. Various clams and fishes can also be found within it. The reef, which is also called a mini Tubbataha, was opened to the public in August 2008. The entire vicinity can be explored within 45 minutes to an hour.
Safety Tips When Travelling after the Pandemic
• Before you travel, check the government’s official guidelines, requirements, and safety measures for flights and hotel stays.
• If possible, go on small group tours only and follow strict social distancing rules.
• Try to opt for cashless transactions to avoid direct contact with other persons when making purchases.
• Be vigilant about your personal hygiene. Follow the basics: wear face masks, wash your hands regularly, and carry alcohol and hand sanitizer.
• Listen to your tour guide for warnings against threats such as sea urchins and other harmful marine life.
• Always wear your life vest if you’re not 100% sure of your swimming skills.
• Follow the rules given by the tour guide at all times.
The pandemic might not be over, but these breathtaking tourist spots in Palawan are worth the wait.
