Summer often means vacation for students, but once it’s almost over, it becomes the perfect time to get ready for the next school year. Part of getting ready for a new academic year is, of course, buying the necessary supplies you need for school. However, it often ends in frustration once you list down all the items you need to buy and things you need to consider.
If you don’t know where to start, you came to the right place. Last week we asked our readers about their favorite school supplies stores in Metro Manila, and the results are in! Read on and see which stores will help you tick off the boxes in your checklist of school items.
5. Baclaran
Serious bargain hunting can be done here in Baclaran.

Starting our list is Baclaran in Paranaque City. Baclaran isn’t just famous at the beginning of the school year, but for the entire year as well due to its large number of stores and boutiques, all set up along the streets of Tondo.
Students can buy various items here: basic school uniforms, bags, and a wide range of school supplies, from notebooks to pens, to plastic covers and crayons. Just be careful when you visit Baclaran as pickpockets would occasionally roam the area. While you can get all kinds of products for school, you can also scour for supplies to use at home or at the office or for your hobby, which they sell for a much cheaper amount compared to those in malls.
4. Divisoria
Fight your way through the streets or enjoy the air-conditioned malls of Divisoria.

The shopping place that made it into the fourth spot is Divisoria in Tondo, Manila. Just like Baclaran, Divisoria is a mecca for all things cheap. Whatever the season or the occasion you might be shopping for, you’ll surely find everything you need in here.
From the busy streets of Divisoria to the many air-conditioned malls that also abound in the area, Divisoria is your ultimate destination for any school supplies you might need, and for cheap too! Some of the items you can find here include notebooks, pads, and writing materials, as well as school uniform like pants, polos, and skirts, and even bags and shoes.
3. Office Warehouse
Create your own study nook at home with Office Warehouse’s supplies and furniture.

The third shop on our list is Office Warehouse. The supply store started out in 1997 with the goal of helping specifically small and medium enterprises for their office and furniture needs. Today, Office Warehouse is among the top suppliers of various office and school supplies and furniture in the country. They offer everything from notebooks, arts and crafts materials, to filing and storage items and printing appliances and peripherals.
Aside from having over 70 outlets in the country, they also have an online store where you can view their product lists and catalogues. They also have a Points Plus + Loyalty Program where loyal customers get to score points whenever they buy, which they can then exchange for exciting perks and freebies.
Browse through Fully Booked’s extensive book collection.

The shop that took the second spot on the list is Fully Booked. If you have a more refined preference in supplies and would prefer higher quality products, Fully Booked is your store of choice. But despite having a pricier line of items compared to the other stores on our list, what sets Fully Booked apart is their collection of resource materials which includes educational and reference books on economics, advertising, business and marketing, and sociology and other areas of the humanities.
Here you’ll also find international titles of various genres and interests from fictional bestsellers to architectural books, as well as magazine and graphic novels. If you’re short on time and can’t visit their physical stores, they also have an online store where you can order your choice books and have them delivered right to your doorstep.

The store that made it to the number one spot is National Bookstore. National Bookstore was opened in the early 1930s by husband-and-wife tandem José Ramos and Socorro Cáncio-Ramos in Santa Cruz, Manila. From selling GI novels, textbooks, and various school and office supplies, they have grown to be the most popular bookstore and office-supplies chain store in the country.
NBS is also the company behind specialty stores such as Powerbooks, Art Bar, Noteworthy, and Work Station. Their wide range of products, which expands from calligraphy pens to computer accessories like flash drives and keyboards, and their more than 200 stores nationwide, made NBS the number one shopping place for buying school supplies.
