With the opening of Terminal 2 of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), tourist arrivals are expected to increase. Aside from more hotels and resorts, there will be a bigger demand for leisure and entertainment options among visitors and locals alike. Fortunately, the Queen City of the South is preparing for this prospect as new property developments in Cebu are set to be unveiled this 2019. Resorts, an entertainment complex, and an ocean park are among the upcoming developments that are in the pipeline this year. Below is a list of new property developments in Cebu for 2019.
1. Cebu Ocean Park

Cebu is set to play host to the biggest oceanarium in the country when the Cebu Ocean Park opens its doors in April 2019. It is the first marine park outside of Luzon and is touted to be an all-year-round tourist destination. The park can accommodate 3,000 visitors at a time and will feature around 200 animal species. Although a majority of these animals are marine creatures, the park will also feature reptiles, birds, and insects. The Cebu Ocean Park will also feature an underwater walkway that will give guests a 360-degree view of the Deep Tank Lagoon. There, guests will be able to see colorful reef fish, manta rays, and sharks, among others. In addition, the park also offers a number of other activities, such as bird feeding, a glass bottom ride, and even an aquanaut experience.
2. Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort

The Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort brings the elegance of the Dusit brand to Mactan Island.

Mactan Island is home to numerous hotels and resorts that offer world-class service. Another resort will be added to this number as the Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort will open its doors this year. Located i8n the northwestern tip of the island, the resort will feature a 100-meter infinity pool, an exclusive beach, a spa, a fitness center, and an indoor children’s center. The resort also has a dive center and it can serve as a suitable base for divers looking to explore the underwater treasures of Mactan Island. This 272-room resort is located 11 kilometers away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
A 500-store lifestyle mall is set to open at the Central Bloc of Cebu IT Park in 2019.

Cebu IT Park is considered as the main business process outsourcing (BPO) hub of Cebu. Situated at the center of the city, it is home to a number of BPO companies offering a wide variety of services to foreign clients. And right in the middle of the park will rise Ayala Malls Central Bloc, making Cebu IT Park a hub of convergence for a young and active market. Situated at the Central Bloc, this 500-store mall will feature both local and international retailers and will make Cebu IT Park the latest hip destination in the Queen City of the South.
4. DMCI Homes Cebu

D.M. Consunji Inc. will unveil its first project in Cebu this 2019.

In 2019, Manila-based D.M. Consunji Inc. will unveil the DMCI Homes Cebu. The project is a quiet, private, and secure neighborhood in Banawa, Cebu City. Its location makes it accessible to the city center while at the same time making its residents feel one with nature. Aside from the living spaces, the development will also feature open spaces where residents can achieve their healthy lifestyle goals. In line with the natural vibe it evokes, the building will use the Lumiventt Design Technology that allows fresh air and ambient light to filter into the building.
5. Lapu-Lapu Leisure Mactan

Situated near the beach, Lapu Lapu Leisure Mactan is the first integrated casino-resort outside of Luzon.

The entertainment scene of Mactan Island will become more exciting with the opening of the first integrated casino-resort outside of Luzon. Lapu-Lapu Leisure Mactan sits on a prime beachfront space and will feature modern buildings along with infinity pools. It will also have a skydiving center, convention center, and a retail complex. In addition, the complex will also have specialty shops, private residences, and a number of luxury villas and hotels. Located six kilometers from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Lapu-Lapu Leisure Mactan also offers stunning views of the Magellan Bay in the north and the Hilutungan Channel in the south. The hotel, casino, and retail complex are expected to start operating within the year.
Sheraton Mactan Resort is a 250-room resort offering all the amenities of a luxury resort.

Mactan Island is set to host a second hotel this year when the Sheraton Mactan Resort opens in September. With a total of 250 luxury guestrooms and suites, this beachfront property will feature all the amenities of a luxury resort, including function spaces and a ballroom for events, recreational facilities, and dining venues. In addition, Sheraton Mactan Resort also offers the Shine Spa for Sheraton and the modern Sheraton Fitness facility for its guests, as well as a number of recreational activities.
