These Lip Inks from Detail Makeover Are Every Girl's New Fave

The lipstick has always been a makeup essential in every woman’s beauty arsenal. But even when it can give you that oomph to make your look go from boring to bongga, it’s literally hard to look good when you have to re-apply after every meal or save your milk tea allowance to afford a quality lip product. For young girls who want to look fresh and attractive every day without going broke, finding a great lippie that is easy on the budget can be difficult.
In case you’re one of these gals, we have good news! We have found the lipstick holy grail in the form of local beauty brand Detail Makeover ’s Lip Ink. Released in late 2018, the Detail Makeover’s line consists of four vivid shades—two in shades of orange and two in red. Detail Makeover’s goal was to make their range of products high-end and affordable at the same time. With a price of PhP119 per piece, the Lip Ink is definitely affordable enough for students and working gals. It’s also not hard to get your hands on one, since it is available in Watsons branches, department stores, and kiosks nationwide. Too lazy to go out? 2. The cutely packaged products are in light, easy-to-carry bottles you can bring anywhere.
The box is sleek and eye-catching.
The packaging is chic, modern, and colorful. It’s easy to tell the shade of your chosen product since the box already shows it. The design of the bottle cap also varies. There’s a different illustration for each shade, so if you buy two or more shades, you can still easily tell them apart.
The product itself is contained in a clear bottle that can fit in most beauty kits. It’s small enough that you can even carry it in your pocket or a small purse. Since the bottle is clear, you can see how much you still have before you have to buy a new one.
The lippie’s applicator makes it easy to add color to your lips.
Each Lip Ink has a classic doe foot applicator which is angled to fit the natural shape of the lips. The applicator is easy to glide along corners, and it makes putting the product on your Cupid’s bow easier and more precise.
3. The shade range is perfect for Filipina skin.
Here is a color swatch of all the four shades.
The collection consists of four shades that range from orange to cherry red. The orange shades are called Orange Juice and Tangerine Tango, while the reds are named Pink Pop and Redberry. We tested these shades to see what they would look like on different skin tones.

On Kim, we applied the shade Orange Juice. From the bottle, it looks like this shade has a light orange color but it’s surprisingly a mix of red and orange once applied. The color immediately popped on Kim’s morena skin. It’s not an overwhelming shade, so it’s versatile for both a day and night look.
Albien shows what Tangerine Tango would look like on a medium skin tone.
Tangerine Tango is a more vibrant shade of orange. While it is generally flattering, it looks best on a Filipina with medium skin tone since it brings attention to the lips. Want a conversation starter for a party? Wear this shade and people will break the ice to give you compliments!
Sheene is wearing Pink Pop for medium light skin tone.
Posting a new selfie? Pop this one on your lips and a filter won’t be needed anymore. Pink Pop stays true to its name: it’s a shade of pink that truly pops. With a tinge of plum accompanying its pinkish shade, Pink Pop works well with Filipinas who have medium light skin tone.

Red Berry looks like it’s a deep shade of red from the bottle, but when applied it’s actually closer to fuchsia or dark pink. With just the right balance between red and purple, this shade is perfect for a fun Friday night out with your friends while eating at a Korean barbecue place or attending a concert.

4. The Lip Ink has a consistent and non-sticky formula.
Even before you open the bottle, you can already see how thick the formula is.
Unlike your regular lip tint, the Lip Inks are not runny and watery. It is a combination of water and gel, which explains why the product glides easily onto your lips. This formula also gives you a thick and pigmented layer even with the first swipe, so if you want just a simple pop of color, a thin layer will suffice. However, if you really want to go all out and go #lipstickonfleek, build the color layer by layer to produce an intense pay-off.
One more thing: Since the colors and shades are based on sweet fruits and treats, the Lip Inks also smell (and taste) as sweet as their shade names!
5. It’s smudge-proof and long-lasting!
Now there’s no need to immediately disappear after a meal to retouch!.
Your lips will never be truly without color even if you gorge yourself at a buffet or drink countless glasses of milk tea, because these lip inks last longer than your typical liquid and bullet lipsticks. We tried to eat and drink like normal after applying these lippies, and we’re amazed with how the color stayed on. Many hours later, after the original shade has faded, we still noticed a lingering pink hue on our lips.
The good news doesn’t stop there. For girls who keep on accidentally smearing lipsticks on their clothes, these Lip Inks are also clumsy-proof! You don’t have to worry about getting some on your clothes or on some other parts of your face. Once the product dries, it does not transfer easily to any other dry surface like cloth. It’s smudge-proof and truly long-lasting that you will need gallons of micellar water to remove it.
There’s a misconception that for an item to be effective, it has to expensive. But Detail Makeover’s Lip Ink proves that this is not true at all. Even with its price, it packs pigmented shades.
