The Official Aviation Guide (OAG), an air travel intelligence company based in the United Kingdom, awarded On-Time Performance (OTP) star ratings to nine Philippine airports, including the Bacolod-Silay Airport.
Airports that received a 1-star rating this year include Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), and the provincial airports in Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao, Tacloban and Puerto Princesa . Meanwhile, Clark International Airport received a higher 2-star rating.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said that the recognized airports met the two criteria of OAG: a monthly minimum of 600 operations and an 80% rate in sending flight status information to OAG within a period of 12 months. The OTP rating does not base on whether the flights are on-time or not. A 5-star rating is the highest rating given by the OAG.
