Weather Advisory: Gear up to battle more rains and thunderstorms

More rainy mornings and afternoons are to be expected this month. The gloomy skies will lead to thunderstorms and heavy rains in most parts of the city. The good news is that the sun will come out before the weekend. However, there is still a chance for a thunderstorm to take place so keep yourselves safe and dry. The forecast temperature for this week ranges from 29 °C to 32 °C [1].

Traffic News: Metropolitan Bacolod Development Authority (MBDA) bill refiled

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya has refiled House Bill No. 2688, which seeks to establish the Metropolitan Bacolod Development Authority (MBDA) in Bacolod City [2].

This bill aims to help in the development planning, transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal and sewage management in the city. The committee will also be handling urban renewal, zoning, health and sanitation, public safety, among other matters. If this bill is passed, the MBDA will also direct a special development and administrative unit. The authority will be under the supervision of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Meanwhile, the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in Western Visayas revealed that the master plan for the proposed Metropolitan Bacolod is underway. Representative Greg Gasataya has stated his support for this move, as it can boost the economy of the entire province. This move could also pave the way to developing a center of tourism, manufacturing, information and communications technology, and business.
