Medical Facilities in Boracay Are Prepared for Health Concerns

The island of Boracay remains COVID-19 free, but if the number of suspected cases rise in the island, medical facilities need to be ready. In line with this, Frolibar Bautista, the acting mayor of Malay, has assigned a hospital that will be responsible for isolating suspected patients of COVID-19. There are also hospitals around the island that can provide care for concerns unrelated to COVID-19. These medical facilities can welcome various non-coronavirus cases, so residents can proceed to them if they do not exhibit symptoms.

Residents who manifest symptoms like fever, cough, cold, difficulty of breathing, and/or diarrhea will be referred to Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital [1]. However, if the patient’s symptoms become severe, the facility will transfer the patient to Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan.

Meanwhile, Scandi Medical Clinic Boracay is open for patients who need statutory health checks, treatment for chronic illnesses, vaccinations, and minor surgeries. It prepares to fight the spread of COVID-19 by being equipped with protective personal equipment (PPEs) and aerosol boxes.

Even if the number of confirmed cases in the island is still zero, medical frontliners remain vigilant and prepared. Bayanihan, the spirit of communal unity, was also shown by the residents and private organizations by donating PPEs to the frontliners in Boracay. Meanwhile, the local government continues to encourage the islanders and tourists to follow social distancing and quarantine measures while the whole world is yet to find a cure.
