Cebu City is one of the most progressive cities in the Philippines in terms of economic growth, tourism, and Information Technology. Not surprisingly, its entertainment and recreation landscape is just as exciting and always ready to serve both locals and tourists looking for some diversion and fun—be it in broad daylight or at night!

In this article, we uncover some of Cebu City’s top entertainment spots for different kinds of amusement and preferences. We will visit the lively Mango Avenue teeming with local and foreign partygoers especially during Sinulog season, the busy Escario Street that leads us to Cebu Provincial Capitol, IT Park where most of the hip and young working demographic are, and down to the underrated but must-visit movie houses and museums.

Mango Avenue

Ask Cebuanos where the most happening place in Cebu is, and chances are their answer will be Mango Avenue. If you are looking for a place for social drinking and clubbing, or having a good laugh, include a stopover to Alchology for the former, and 22nd Street Comedy Bar, for the latter, in your agenda.

Alchology is a party place for those who want to feel the beat and dance to the up-and-coming DJs in the city. Over the years, Alchology has also welcomed sets from famous DJs such as Manila’s DJ M.O.D. and Ace Ramos, and International DJ and model Callum David. Meanwhile, if you believe that laughter is the best medicine, check out 22nd Street Comedy Bar as they throw slapstick comedy, commercial spoofs, and dead pan comedy to entertain the audience.

Alchology and 22nd Street Comedy Bar are both located at Mango Square, Maxilom Avenue.

IT Park, Lahug

For those whose idea of entertainment are watching television and moving pictures and singing karaoke, there are two establishments at IT Park to go to—Hello Hans Movie House and Music One Family KTV + DVD. It has two branches—one in IT Park and one in Parkmall (which is bigger than the former). Collectively, these stores have over a thousand local and foreign movies for customers to choose from. This private movie house charges PhP350 per movie good for two persons, plus PhP50 for each additional person.

For inquiries, you may contact them through their Facebook page ‘Hello Hans Movie House’.

Another establishment with private room entertainment in Cebu City is Music One Family KTV + DVD which has thousands of local and foreign songs in its database. They also have an extensive collection of movies for patrons who prefer to watch films instead. They maintain a selection of over 200 original DVD copies which they update every month.

Each of the 15 Deluxe and VIP room has a 42-inch TV screen. A Deluxe room can seat up to 8 persons while a VIP room can accommodate up to 12 pax. Rates start as low as PhP298 (Deluxe Room) good for 2 persons plus PhP48 for each additional person. Music One Family KTV + DVD can be reached through musiconefamilyktv@gmail.com.

Hello Hans Movie House is located at 2nd Floor, CJRS Building next to Skyrise 1 Building at Cebu IT Park while Music One Family KTV + DVD is located at 2nd Floor, The Walk, Abad Street.

Escario Street

If Escario Street were a person, it definitely won’t be a morning person! Always alive at night, Escario Street has Big Screen Entertainment and Labeled Liquor Store + Bar which are some of the go-to places in the street for relaxation and entertainment. Looking at the prices and the entertainment value they offer, it is not hard to see why the spots are favorites in this side of Cebu.

Big Screen Entertainment’s Medium Room is priced at PhP400 for two hours of private movie viewing and is good for five persons while their Big Room is priced at PhP450 for two hours, which is good for five persons as well. For additional person, it costs PhP50/head for Medium Room and PhP70/head for Big Room.

A favorite installment for gamers at Big Screen Entertainment is, of course, the Kinect Rooms which can be rented for Php350/hr good for six persons, plus PhP30 per additional person.

Meanwhile, just like in Mango Avenue, there are also places for drinking, party, and upbeat music in Escario Street such as Labeled Liquor Store + Bar.
