It’s the beginning of the year once again, and what do we love to do every January? Make a list of resolutions! We love the feeling of having a clean slate and the possibility that we can do anything this New Year. From setting travel goals to career goals, the New Year gives us purpose and pushes us to strive harder.
One popular item on every person’s resolutions list is getting healthy (YAY!) And for some reason it keeps coming back on the list every year because one can’t seem to follow through with it (NAY!) We always seem to find ourselves using excuses upon excuses and come next January; our favorite item is back on our resolutions list again.
To inspire you and help you follow through with your goal, we asked you, our readers, about what you think are the top fitness centers in the country and the results are in. Check below who made the list and see if they fit what you need to be fit and healthy this 2017.
6. Elorde Boxing Gym
Practice your high kicks at Elorde Boxing Gym.
To start our list is Elorde Boxing Gym at number 6. If you are bored of workout programs that circle around treadmills and stationary bikes, you can try Elorde’s boxing and muay thai classes to add a little excitement to your workout. Elorde Boxing Gym became a popular spot for fitness buffs simply because we Filipinos love boxing, thanks to Manny Pacquiao, and because of its affordability. You can pay per session if you just want to try out their classes or you can also pay a membership fee for a year if you want to commit full time.
Another great thing about Elorde is that their trainers are actual boxers, and some even compete professionally and in different parts of the world. Fees vary per branch but one boxing session for non-members usually starts at PhP400. If you like what you experienced go ahead and register for a year for around PhP1500.
Test your endurance and flexibility at Beyond Yoga.
On our fifth spot is Beyond Yoga. Beyond Yoga is a Yoga studio that offers not just yoga but dance classes like zumba and anti-gravity classes as well. Beyond Yoga promises to go beyond what’s usual by providing various levels of yoga classes and by incorporating the principles of yoga into your way of life.
If you are the type of person who prefers to work out on a more relaxed way then you can try Beyond Yoga’s beginner’s class. If you want to challenge yourself, go ahead and sign up in one of their anti-gravity classes where they let you incorporate your workout with a hanging hammock. Beyond Yoga’s entry price is PhP1000 where you can try out one yoga, one zumba, and one anti-gravity class.
On our top four is 360 Fitness Club. Started just this 2010, 360 Fitness Club is already becoming one of the most popular fitness centers in the country for their unique method of keeping their clients fit. Instead of promoting the use of bulky equipment like treadmills, 360 Fitness Club introduced no-machine set up workouts like circuit training where clients are given a set of exercise for 30 minutes non-stop.
Aside from their popular circuit training classes, 360 Fitness Club also offers other classes like yoga, pole dancing, and various dance classes. They also provide trainers for gym rats who want to have a more focused workout like muscle building, weight loss, or to improve athletic performance.
On our top three is Gold’s Gym. Gold’s Gym originated in the United States but has been operating in the Philippines since 2002. Since then, Gold’s Gym has been known to be one of the most popular fitness centers in the country with its wide array of class offerings and top of the line equipment and machineries.
One of the things gym goers love about Gold’s Gym is their abundance of branches in the country and the dynamic classes that they offer. If you are a newbie in the fitness world, Gold’s Gym is also a great option because upon membership they provide three free sessions with a personal trainer to walk you through the gym and help you set realistic fitness goals for yourself.
Pound for Pound Fitness will make you push harder.
On our second spot is Pound for Pound fitness gym. Pound for Pound fitness gym is known for their intense workout programs focusing on strength and conditioning, athletic training, weights training, weight loss, and cross training.
Aside from the high intensity programs, Pound for Pound fitness gym also has 25 branches all over the metro that makes it easy for clients from all over to visit their center. A non-member can try their basic programs for only PhP200.If you opt to go full time, you can choose from one month to one year subscription. Annual membership fee is PhP500, then goes up depending on your monthly subscription. Their membership fee already includes a trainer.
And our number one spot for the Best Fitness Center in the country goes to Fitness First! Fitness First is the biggest fitness center in the world with over 370 clubs internationally. Fitness First came in the Philippines in 2010 and has become one of the most popular gyms since then.
Fitness First has been known for being one of the ‘traditional’ gyms in the country where you can find high-tech equipment and machineries, classes, and personal trainers. But beyond the beautiful interiors and programs, people also love the accessibility of Fitness First. Their gyms are open seven days a week, even on Holidays. And unlike most gyms, clients can also avail of memberships in which they can visit any Fitness First branch in the country.
