You don’t have to wear foreign brands to level up your closet and bring out the inner fashionista in you. Available in the comfort of our own malls—and now even online!—are local clothing brands that produce stylish fashion pieces. Below are some of the newest finds from the Philippines’ homegrown brands that you can try for some wardrobe upgrade.

Plains and Prints’ first store opened in 1994 at Greenhills, San Juan.


Days prior to the collection’s release, famous celebrities and fashion bloggers teased the public with Plains & Prints’ Barbie collection. Those who want to fulfill their childhood dream of dressing like Barbie can choose among fun and flirty dresses inspired by the iconic doll. One of the dresses included in the collection is the Ballet Wishes Barbie dress pictured above, which was worn by famous local blogger Vern Enciso.

Helios Philippines’ Leto duffel bag may not only be an addition to your closet, but may also be a suitable gift for your loved ones this holiday as the bags can be customized with names, initials, year, or words. Customers can choose from five different colors: kale (green), onyx (black), ivory (white), sky (blue), and denim. The bags also come in two sizes—standard and compact.

Penshoppe’s lace-up denim mini skirt features pretty lace ribbons placed along the sides of the skirt parallel to the thighs to give off a girly-but-grungy vibe. It can be worn with a plain top as the design of the skirt can be the statement piece of the whole outfit itself. As in the photo above, the skirt can also be paired with ankle length boots for a combination of rocker chic and feminine look.

4. Colorblock polo

The playful color-blocking of Bench’s polo adds a quirky touch to the usual formal and sporty look of polo shirts. The white polo is accentuated by blue, red, and yellow and also features an asymmetric hemline. Other details include buttons and an embroidered patch at the left chest area. The polo can also be buttoned down at the back.

The 2017 holiday collection is currently available at the Melissa website and will hit the stores either by late 2017 or early 2018.

Rusty Lopez has been produce footwear since 1977. It was first known as Centropell at the Cubao Shoe Expo.


Rusty Lopez is of the most popular footwear brands in the Philippines. The Marikina-based company is known to produce comfortable and sophisticated footwear—one of which is the newly released Alina sandals. The sandals, which come in black and orange, have a pretty toe strap design made from a combination of braided fabrics and shiny rhinestones.
