6 Spots in Metro Manila with Awesome Fireworks Displays This New Year

Filipinos have a reputation for throwing a great party and the New Year celebration is no exception. But aside from the overwhelming feast and loud celebrations, the fireworks display is one of the most awaited parts of welcoming the New Year.

If you’re tired of the usual fireworks from your neighbors and want to see a grander display, several spots in Manila are packed with great events and fireworks shows this coming New Year. Head over to these places and be mesmerized as you welcome 2018.


1. SM Mall Of Asia

Where: SM Central Business Park Bay City, Pasay, 1300 Metro Manila

SM Mall of Asia (MOA) is always included in the list whenever the phrase “fireworks display” comes to mind. Aside from being home to the annual Philippine International Pyromusical Competition, SM MOA also has a display that is a sight to behold every New Year.

Fortunately, you don’t have to wait until New Year as you can also catch awesome fireworks display at SM MOA on all Saturdays of December at 5:30 PM and on Christmas Day as part of its Grand Festival of Lights.


2. Ayala Malls

Where: TriNoma Mall, EDSA cor., North Avenue, Quezon City, Metro Manila and Alabang Town Center, Theater Drive, Muntinlupa City

Several Ayala malls are also great spots to visit this coming New Year as they have their own fireworks display to boot. Northerners can drive by TriNoma and check out its Yuletide Rhythms Park Music Series and Festive Fireworks on all Saturdays of December and on January 1, 2018. The musical performances will start at 7:00 PM while the fireworks display will follow at 8:00 PM.

For those who live in the South, Alabang Town Center (ATC) also has the Fireworks in the Sky event on all weekends of December and on January 1, 2018. The fireworks display, which is best viewed from the Town Plaza, starts at 6:45 PM.


3. Rizal Park

Where: Roxas Blvd Ermita, Barangay 666 Zone 72, Metro Manila

If you and your family and friends are not ones to shy away from the crowd, you can welcome the New Year at Rizal Park. Hundreds of thousands of families gather at Rizal Park and even camp out and bring their media noche here as they enjoy the celebration and fireworks display organized by the National Parks and Development Committee (NPDC) every year.

This year, the Rizal Park New Year Countdown, hosted by the NPDC, will take place at the Central Section of the park. The New Year celebration is usually accompanied by a concert and a 15-minute fireworks display once the clock strikes 12.


4. Quezon Memorial Circle

Where: R-7, Diliman, Quezon City

Those who live in Quezon City can also visit Quezon Memorial Circle this New Year for an enthralling fireworks display. For the past years the local government of Quezon City has partnered with television network TV5 in bringing a festive celebration for locals as they welcome the New Year.

Quezon Memorial Circle, or Circle to locals, is famous for its celebrity-packed concert, 3D-mapping light show, and grand pyro musical display. Just be ready as thousands of people usually join the festivities come New Year’s Eve.



5. Resorts World Manila

Where: Resorts World Manila, Newport Boulevard, Newport City, Pasay

If you’re looking for a more upscale celebration, you can join the Grand Countdown to 2018 at Resorts World Manila with Arnel Pineda and Lani Misalucha as headliners of the event. But if you’re not joining the party and live near the famous luxury hotel and casino, you can also wait and watch the grand fireworks display from outside.

While you’re there, you can check out Resort World Manila’s Christmas display called Lumina: Walkway of Lights that runs along the tunnel that connects Newport Mall and Maxims Hotel. Watch almost 100,000 light emitting diodes (LED) glow and take hundreds of photos with your friends.


6. Marikina Riverbanks

Where: 300 Shoe Ave., Sto. Nino, Marikina City

Enjoy some carnival rides and watch the awesome fireworks display at Marikina Riverbanks.


As part of its Christmassaya series of events this December, Marikina Riverbanks will also cap off the year with a bang. Visit Marikina Riverbanks on December 30 and join in with the festivities as several acts are slated to perform at the year-ender show from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

In addition to this, a Grand Pyro-Musical Show will also be held. While you’re waiting for the fireworks display, you can also browse through Marikina Riverbank’s famous bazaar and carnival perfect for kids and adults alike.
