Do you find yourself looking for fun ways to de-stress and take a break from the daily grind, especially after working long hours? If your answer is a resounding “yes,” one of the popular ways you can de-stress is by having a few drinks while listening to live bands in Metro Manila bars and clubs. Before you head out, check out this list of live bands and international artists who will perform in local bars and clubs in the Metro within the remaining weeks of 2017.


1. What: Parokya ni Edgar


When: November 27;9:00 PM
Where: The 70s Bistro, Anonas, Quezon City
Door charge: PhP300

Live music can be better with friends and drinks.


Parokya ni Edgar, one of the most popular bands in the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) scene, will take over The 70s Bistro—one of the oldest venue for live shows in the Metro. Fans of the band may catch them perform their hit songs like Gitara (Guitar), Harana (Serenade), Alumni Homecoming, and Picha Pie.

Tickets can be purchased at the venue.

How to get to The 70s Bistro: Ride the LRT-Line 2 and get off at Anonas Station. Ride a tricycle or jeepney located near McDonald’s and ask the driver to drop you off at The 70s Bistro. It will be at the right side.


2. What: Freestyle


When: November 28; 9:30 PM
Where: 19 East, Paranaque
Door charge: PhP350

Freestyle formed in 1996.


Freestyle has been in the music industry for 21 years, and they still continue to perform in gigs around the Metro. This November 28, they will have a show at 19 East, Sucat Paranaque. Freestyle is behind songs such as Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang? (Why Did I Only Meet You Now?), Before I Let You Go, So Slow, and This Time.

How to get to 19 East: Ride a bus going to Sucat, Alabang and go the other side. 19 East can be reached by walking from there along Service Road.


3. What: MYMP


When: November 29; 9:00 PM
Where: 19 East
Door charge: PhP300

Over the years, MYMP has had three female vocalists.


If you’re in the mood for a soft acoustic live band session with lots of emotions, Make Your Momma Proud (MYMP) will have a show at 19 East Bar and Grill, Paranaque. MYMP is famous for its heartfelt rendition of songs like Only Reminds Me of You, Tell Me Where It Hurts, and Especially for You.

4. What: FLUME


When: December 9; 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM
Where: The Palace Manila
Door charge: PhP2,500 early bird; PhP3,400 regular rate

The event is organized by Karpos Multimedia.


Australian DJ and producer Flume will be having his first Manila show this December 9 at The Palace Manila. Besides producing original beats, the 26-year-old musician gained online recognition by releasing remixes of songs by famous artists like Sam Smith, Lorde, Disclosure, Arcade Fire, and Hermitude. Adding to his success is his Grammy-award-winning album Skin which won under the Best Dance/Electronic album.

Tickets can be purchased at Valkyrie at the Palace, Manila.

How to get to The Palace Manila: Ride the MRT and get off at Guadalupe Station then ride a jeep going to Market! Market!. Fare costs PhP8.00. The jeep will pass by the area.




5. What: 88Rising Asia Tour


When: December 13; 9:00 PM
Where: House Manila at Remington Hotel, Resorts World Manila
Door charge: Standing is at PhP3,500

This is the first show of 88Rising in the country.


Some of the most talked-about internet personalities this year among millennials are the boys of 88Rising. 88Rising has gained fame over the internet for having artists who broke the Asian stereotype set by Korean boy bands. Included in the Asian tour roster is Japanese-Australian musician Joji, also known as Filthy Frank to his fans. Indonesian rapper Rich Chigga and Chinese hip-hop group Higher Brothers are part of the tour as well.

Tickets are available at the 88Rising website and Ticketworld website.

How to get to Resorts World Manila: Take the MRT-Line 3 and get off at Taft Avenue Station. Exit towards the north-bound side of the station and go to a terminal of jeepneys near McDonald’s going to CCP. Look for the white Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal (NAIA) 3 shuttle commuter bus. The fare for the shuttle is PhP20.


6. What: Steve Aoki


When: December 15; 10:30 PM
Where: The Cove, Okada Manila
Door charge: PhP1,000 for females, PhP1,500 for males

Steve Aoki is known to throw cakes at fans during his shows.


American DJ Steve Aoki will perform on the unveiling of Okada Manila’s indoor beach club and nightclub, The Cove. Steve Aoki has been known to produce electronic music and has collaborated with artists such as Linkin Park, Iggy Azalea, LMFAO, Fall Out Boy, and Louis Tomlinson.

Only guests aged 18 and above are allowed inside the event. Tickets are available at Okada Manila’s website.

How to get to Okada Manila: Ride the MRT and get off at Taft Avenue Station. Ride a shuttle to the SM Mall of Asia then wait in front of Pet Express. Wait for the complementary shuttle services of Okada. There are also shuttles available from SM Megamall and SM Aura .




7. What: Ryan Hemsworth


When: December 23
Where: Black Market, Makati
Door charge: To be announced

Ryan Hemsworth’s Asia Tour will include eight countries on the region.


Bars in Makati with live bands are havens for various genres of music, and on December 23, fans of Canadian record producer and DJ Ryan Hemsworth would be having an early Christmas present, as Hemsworth will come back for his second show in Manila. His last show in the country was last April 2016 wherein he performed with local artist No Rome. His upcoming show at Black Market, Makati is part of his 2017 Asia Tour.

Tickets can be purchased at the venue.

How to get to Black Market: Ride the MRT to Magallanes Station and take the south exit. Walk along EDSA past the San Lorenzo Place construction site towards Chino Roces opposite SM Savemore. Wait for jeepneys with the PRC sign and ask the driver to drop you off at Mazda. Black Market is beside it.
